Every day, hundreds of boats from Dien Bich commune anchor at the foot of Dien Kim bridge to get ice to preserve seafood. Therefore, trucks carrying crushed ice freely stop right on the bridge and reload ice for the boats anchored below. Due to the narrow width of the bridge, when 3- or 4-wheel vehicles stop on the bridge, cars cannot pass. Photo taken on July 24, 2019. |

Ice was dumped by fishermen onto the boat right in the middle of the bridge, from a height of more than 10 meters. Each bag of ice weighed more than 50kg, threatening the bridge’s railings, which were gradually weakening. |

Dien Kim Bridge is one of the vital bridges of the coastal area of Dien Chau district. Every day, tens of thousands of people and vehicles pass by. During the rainy and stormy season, many fishing boats come to the foot of this bridge to take shelter, using the bridge pier as a place to anchor their boats. Many times, provincial leaders, when inspecting flood and storm prevention, have warned that this will cause unsafety to the bridge. Mr. Nguyen Viet Man - Chairman of Dien Bich Commune People's Committee said that the commune has up to 235 boats. Due to the crowded Lach Van fishing port (Dien Ngoc), most of Dien Bich boats have to anchor near Dien Kim bridge. In the coming time, the commune will mobilize and propagate fishermen not to continue anchoring supplies on the bridge. The commune is submitting a request to the district People's Committee to build a temporary port in Dien Bich commune for people to anchor. Photo: Van Truong |

Why is the project of anchoring ships at Cua Lo Port slow?
(Baonghean.vn) - More than 40 offshore fishing boats of Cua Lo have no place to anchor, which is a reality that fishermen have long desired. It is not only a place to anchor boats and avoid storms, but more importantly, a fishing port to sell products as well as facilitate fishing logistics.
