Nghe An: 5 more African swine fever outbreaks in 2 days
(Baonghean.vn) - Information from the Nghe An Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said that from May 25 to 27, 2019, 5 new outbreaks occurred in Nghe An in the districts of Dien Chau, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc, Tan Ky and Hoang Mai town.
Tan Ky re-announced the epidemic
Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district was tested positive for African swine fever on May 26. Immediately after that, the People's Committee of Tan Ky district had to declare the epidemic for the second time. Previously, on May 10, the People's Committee of the district announced the end of the epidemic in Nghia Dong commune.
Mr. Le Duc Tinh - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Tan Ky district said: Immediately after the African swine fever outbreak in Nghia Thai commune, the district directed the professional sector and the commune government to set up 3 checkpoints in Nghia Thai commune. At the same time, the locality was provided with 22 liters of chemicals to spray disinfectant in the commune.
Hoang Mai town, districtNam Dan adds new service point
On the morning of May 27, Hoang Mai town recorded a new outbreak in hamlet 1, Quynh Lien commune.

Mr. Ho Ngoc Tang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Lien commune said that on the afternoon of May 27, the commune destroyed 4 pigs of Mr. Bach Lien's family, with a total weight of 240 kg, and immediately deployed the work of setting up a checkpoint to block the epidemic on Highway 37B. Currently, the work of preventing and controlling African swine fever in the commune is being vigorously deployed.

In Nam Dan district, African swine fever appeared in a new outbreak in hamlet 11, Nam Nghia commune on the morning of May 25. The local authorities of Nam Nghia commune coordinated with the Veterinary Station of Nam Dan district to destroy 14 pigs infected with African swine fever with a total weight of 473 kg at Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thanh's household.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh The - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nam Dan district said: Currently, Nam Dan has not recorded a second locality with African swine fever, however, in Nam Nghia commune there have been 3 outbreaks, the affected households are not far from each other. The district is directing Nam Nghia commune to implement more drastic measures to prevent the epidemic, because African swine fever is currently breaking out strongly in many localities, with the determination not to spread to neighboring communes.
The epidemic is developing very complicatedly, especially in Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen and Ky Son districts. On May 26, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine sent 4 test samples from 4 localities: Hoang Mai town, Thanh Chuong district, Quynh Luu and Hung Nguyen.
From March 13 to May 26, 2019, African swine fever occurred in 109 households in 77 hamlets of 49 communes in 13 districts and towns, with 49 outbreaks. The total number of infected pigs that were culled was 908 (76 sows, 1 boar, 6,680 pigs and 151 piglets), total weight: 48,637.5 kg.
