Nghe An issues telegram to respond to and overcome consequences of floods
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 11, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu signed Official Dispatch No. 18/CD-UBND on proactively responding to and overcoming the consequences of floods.
The telegram stated: In recent days, in Nghe An province, there have beenheavy rain causes flooding, landslides, damage to houses, property of people and the State, affecting people's production, in some places there have been human losses.
Due to the impact of climate change, natural disasters tend to be complex, extreme, and unusual, so heavy rain, localized flooding, flash floods, and landslides may continue to occur in the province.
To proactively respond,overcoming the consequences of floodsIn order to promptly and effectively implement the following urgent tasks, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police, provincial departments, branches, sectors and organizations; People's Committees of districts, cities and towns; the North Central Hydrometeorological Station; irrigation and hydropower companies in the province and related units to immediately carry out a number of urgent tasks:
Focus on directing the review of residential areas, proactively arranging forces and means to support people in evacuating from dangerous areas, especially areas that are deeply flooded or at high risk of flash floods and landslides to ensure people's safety.

Organize visits and support for families affected by floods, especially poor and disadvantaged households and families with victims; mobilize forces to support people to overcome consequences and restore agricultural production after floods.
In addition, monitor and update the developments of floods and rains; direct and deploy timely and effective response work. Strictly manage and guide traffic at ferry terminals; traffic routes, culverts, and spillways that are flooded or eroded; set up markers, assign people to be on duty, guard, close roads, divide traffic, and guide traffic to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.
In particular, promote propaganda and guidance for people.safety skills, limit risks during floods; strictly prohibit people from collecting firewood, fishing... on rivers, streams, downstream of dams during floods to avoid human losses; absolutely do not let people have subjective thoughts before, during and after floods; pay special attention and monitor the elderly and children living in affected areas.
The North Central Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors the developments of floods and rains, forecasts, and promptly informs authorities and people to proactively deploy response work.
The Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, and Transport, according to their assigned state management functions, coordinate with localities to direct the work of ensuring the safety of dikes, dams, and protecting production, especially works under construction or damaged or degraded; proactively develop plans for safe operation of dams, especially weak dams and dams that are full of water; ensure traffic safety and promptly resolve incidents on main traffic routes.
The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command and the Provincial Police proactively arranged forces and means to support the evacuation and relocation of residents from dangerous areas, rescue, and overcome the consequences.consequences of natural disasterswhen required by local authorities.
