On the morning of February 1, speaking with a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, Mr. Ho Mau Thanh - Director of the Department of Culture - Sports of Nghe An said that the unit is about to send an official dispatch to localities about temporarily suspending the organization of festivals to respond to the acute respiratory infection epidemic.

This move took place in the context of the increasingly complicated epidemic situation, with the number of infections increasing. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued a directive on the evening of January 31, requesting to limit large gatherings, especially at festivals; temporarily suspend festivals that have not opened, and in special cases, the Prime Minister's opinion must be obtained; reduce the scale of organized festivals; require people to wear masks in public places and limit spring travel and participation in festivals...

Immediately after that, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also sent a telegram to localities, requesting that festivals that have opened must reduce the scale; festival time; reduce activities during the festival; limit the organization of festival activities with large crowds; ensure conditions for disease prevention and control according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health. Require people to wear masks at festivals and relics. Step up propaganda work, request people to limit participation in spring festival activities. Implement measures to prevent and control acute respiratory infections caused by the new strain of Corona virus at festival activities and relics.

According to Mr. Ho Mau Thanh, during the New Year, Nghe An province has about 20 festivals. Among them, there are many large-scale festivals, attracting thousands of people such as Con Temple festival in Hoang Mai town.

In another development, speaking at an online meeting on the morning of February 1, a representative of the Ministry of Health said that Vietnam had just recorded one more case of acute respiratory infection caused by nCoV, which had been admitted, isolated and treated at the Khanh Hoa Tropical Diseases Hospital. The patient was a hotel receptionist. The Ministry of Health later announced an epidemic in this locality.
Thus, the whole country has detected 6 cases of acute respiratory infection, including 2 Chinese nationals.
Meanwhile, in China, the death toll from nCoV increased to 259, the number of infections increased to 11,791.
