Nghe An: Thousands of people return to Hong Son Temple on the anniversary of the death of their ancestors.
(Baonghean.vn) - Thousands of people from Vinh city and surrounding areas came to offer incense and make offerings at the Hung King's death anniversary held at Hong Son temple.
On April 14, at the national historical and cultural relic Hong Son Temple (Hong Son Ward), Vinh City People's Committee held the 2019 Hung King's death anniversary ceremony.

The Hung Kings' death anniversary is held to commemorate the merits of the Hung Kings, remind people to remember their roots, and continue to build pride in the traditions of their ancestors and the Lac Hong lineage. At the same time, the ceremony creates conditions for people in Vinh city who do not have the opportunity to go to Hung Temple in Phu Tho to offer incense and pay their respects to their ancestors and roots.

The program includes lion dance performances, martial arts and the epic "Vietnamese Spirit"; incense offering and prayers for national peace and prosperity; reading of the death anniversary of the Hung Kings.

According to historical documents, Hong Son Temple was built during the Nguyen Dynasty, considered as a Martial Temple, currently becoming a gathering place for gods (King, Mother, Buddha, Saint), including the tablets of 18 Hung Kings. The temple was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic in 1984.

During the year, there are three major festivals at Hong Son Temple, including: Hung King's Commemoration Day (10/3 Lunar calendar), Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan's Commemoration Day (20/8 Lunar calendar) and Holy Mother Lieu Hanh's Commemoration Day (3/3 Lunar calendar). The temple has become a cultural and spiritual activity center for the people of Vinh city and neighboring districts.
