Nghe An isolates A/H5N6 avian influenza outbreak in Yen Thanh
(Baonghean.vn) - Veterinary agencies and local authorities are actively isolating the A/H5N6 avian influenza outbreak at a 4,000-duck farm owned by Mr. Ngo Tri Triem's family in Phu Son hamlet, Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (Nghe An).

Mr. Ngo Tri Triem - owner of a duck farm in Phu Son hamlet, Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district said,duck farmThe family has 4,000 ducks, of which 1,000 are laying ducks and the rest are young ducks. Since August 26, many ducks have shown signs of illness and died.
Worried, the family proactively vaccinated more than 1,000 pigs and informed the local authorities and the district veterinary agency to take samples for testing.

Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said: The test sample at this duck farmpositivewithpandemicavian influenza H5N6on September 2nd.
On September 3, the Department directly went to the duck farm, together with the local authorities to examine and handle the outbreak by instructing the duck farm owner to sprinkle lime powder at the entrance and exit of the farm, spray disinfectants and continue to vaccinate the remaining ducks against the disease; at the same time, monitor the progress of the duck flock in the coming days. For the dead ducks, the family buried them in a safe location.

Mr. Hoang Van Sam - Vice Chairman of Nam Thanh Commune People's Committee said: In the commune, there are currently 9 duck farms, with a total herd of 42,000 ducks, not including small-scale farmers.
Immediately after the outbreak of avian influenza A/H5N6 at Mr. Ngo Tri Triem's duck farm, the commune isolated the area to contain the epidemic according to the direction of the professional agency, and at the same time, propagated to duck farm owners in the commune to proactivelyprevention and control of epidemics.
The professional agency recommends: The A/H5N6 influenza virus is a strain that can spread to humans, so when coming into contact with poultry, farmers must have the necessary protective equipment such as: masks, gloves, boots, etc. Before and after entering the barn or livestock area, farmers must wash their hands and feet with soap. Protective equipment should be disinfected with disinfectants. When participating in the fight against the epidemic, the authorities must be ready and fully equipped to serve the officers participating in the inspection.
