Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Huu TH. (30 years old, Nam Dan district) said that after many days of stomach pain, on the morning of September 10, he went to Thai An General Hospital (Vinh City) for examination. Here, he had a gastroscopy and abdominal ultrasound.

“After receiving the results, I didn’t read them carefully and gave the ultrasound and endoscopy results to the doctor who prescribed the medicine,” said Mr. Th. After returning home and taking three doses of medicine, his wife brought out her husband’s ultrasound results that evening and was shocked to discover that they described her husband as “having a uterus.” “I was very confused. I didn’t dare continue taking the medicine. The top part clearly stated my name and gender as male, but the bottom part described my uterus. It was confusing,” the male patient added.

In this ultrasound report, in the description of Mr. Th's ultrasound result, there is a line of text "uterus - adnexa: Normal size, uniform echo, normal endometrium. Ovaries on both sides have normal parenchyma and size....".
“I gave this ultrasound to the doctor to see and prescribe medicine, they should have discovered this when they read it,” the patient asked.
Discussing this case, Mr. Thai Khac Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Nghe An Medical Joint Stock Company (the parent company of Thai An General Hospital), said that after receiving the reporter's feedback, he directly checked and called to apologize to this patient.
“It was a mistake, the typist took the ultrasound form of the woman. This is the first time we have made a mistake like this. The doctor had examined so many patients that he just signed without paying close attention to the results. I have also reminded my staff to learn from this experience,” said Mr. Hung.
