Nghe An: Brave male student jumps into water to save victim

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 12, Mr. Dang The Sinh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia An Commune, Nghia Dan District, confirmed that a 12th grade male student at Tay Hieu High School (Thai Hoa Town) had just rescued a victim who was swept away by the flood.

Accordingly, at around 7:30 am on October 10, Nguyen Van Long (born 2000), residing in Met hamlet, Nghia Khanh commune, Nghia Dan district, was on his way to school with his friends. When he reached Phu My stream, located on Highway 48D, passing through Nghia An commune, Nghia Dan district, he heard a woman calling for help.

Long discovered a motorcyclist passing through the creek being swept away by the water. Without thinking, Long immediately jumped into the water, at which point the woman fainted. Immediately after, some people also heard the screams so they ran to the rescue, bringing the woman safely to shore.

Mr. Sinh added that upon receiving the information, he immediately sent officers to help the people pull Ms. Phuong's motorbike to shore. It is known that Nguyen Van Long is currently a 12A1 student at Tay Hieu High School, Thai Hoa Town.

The lucky person who was saved was Ms. Ha Thi Phuong (25 years old), residing in Quang Tien Ward, Thai Hoa Town. According to Ms. Phuong, when she was crossing the stream, the water swept her and her vehicle away. After calling for help, she fainted due to drowning. When she woke up, she found herself lying in a resident's house.

"Luckily Long jumped into the ravine to save her, otherwise I don't know what would have happened" - Ms. Phuong said emotionally.
