Nghe An: Another locality has African swine fever outbreak

(Baonghean.vn) - Test results showed that the dead pigs at Mr. To Duy Tong's family, Quynh 2 hamlet, Chau Binh commune (Quy Chau) tested positive for African swine fever. The local authorities have organized the destruction of the pigs according to the correct procedure.

Previously, on the morning of April 17, when one pig died and three pigs got sick, Mr. Tong reported it to the local authorities and veterinary agency.

Upon receiving the news, veterinary officers from Quy Chau district came to inspect the pigs. Clinical examination showed that the sick and dead pigs had symptoms of high fever, diarrhea, bleeding, etc. The authorities took samples to send for testing for African swine fever.

Test results on the afternoon of April 17 showed that the pigs at Mr. Tong’s house tested positive for African swine fever. That same evening, Quy Chau district organized the culling of a herd of 10 pigs, including 1 sow and 9 piglets.

Immediately after the positive results, the district set up 3 quarantine checkpoints in Quynh 2 hamlet, Chau Binh commune to control animals and vehicles entering and leaving the epidemic area. In addition, the district directed localities to raise the spirit of epidemic prevention, especially in communes neighboring Chau Binh such as Chau Hoi, Chau Nga, town...

To prevent the epidemic, the People's Committee of Quy Chau district has directed that during the epidemic period, all activities of buying, selling, and transporting pigs in and out of the epidemic area will be temporarily suspended.

Quy Chau district currently has over 27,000 pigs. Before the outbreak, the district was provided with over 100 liters of chemicals to prevent the disease. Currently, the Department of Animal Health has provided an additional 72 liters of chemicals to Quy Chau to strengthen epidemic control. The district has also allocated funds to buy an additional 60 liters of chemicals and 10 tons of lime powder to distribute to communes to prevent and control the epidemic.
