Many craft villages in Dien Chau (Nghe An) had their titles revoked.
(Baonghean.vn) - Craft villages in Dien Chau have created dozens of handicraft products and many other goods. However, due to many different reasons, many craft villages have been lost and had their titles revoked.
Dien Chau district has 20 craft villages that have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee, including: Export rattan and bamboo weaving, traditional weaving, rice paper and candy production, vermicelli and cake making, broom weaving, incense splitting, civil carpentry, drum making, silk, seafood processing, food processing, leaf cake production, and boat building.
In addition, the District People's Committee has also recognized 20 villages with other crafts. The preservation and development of craft villages has contributed to the economic restructuring, the average income of workers in craft villages in the district reached 22.6 million VND/year.

However, currently, some traditional craft villages are operating at a low level, ineffectively, and have to stop operating. In 2019, the District People's Committee proposed that the Nghe An Rural Development Board have a solution to handle, revoke, and cancel the recognition certificates for 4 craft villages because they have stopped operating for many years. These are 3 rattan and bamboo weaving villages in Dien Truong, Dien Loc, Dien Van and 1 incense village in Dien An commune.
Dien Chau District People's Committee has also issued a decision to revoke and cancel the titles of 12 recognized craft villages. With the cancellation of the craft village titles and craft villages, Dien Chau District now has 16 craft villages and 8 craft villages.
We have proposed that the Provincial People's Committee revoke the licenses of some inactive craft villages because the number of people and products participating is not available and does not meet the set criteria. We also continue to review and replicate and invest in expanding production for truly effective craft villages for new recognition.

Currently, Dien Chau is implementing the program “One Commune One Product”, but is facing many difficulties due to the increasingly fading of craft village products. The district is also strengthening management and building brands associated with the new rural development program, thereby creating jobs for many rural workers, developing the economy and contributing to preserving traditional cultural features in the villages.
