(Baonghean.vn) - As scheduled, it is now the time when flower growers in Thai Hoa are busy planting seeds to prepare flowers for the 2018 Lunar New Year market.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duc's family in Dong Hoa hamlet, Nghia Hoa commune, Thai Hoa town has been growing flowers for nearly 25 years. This is the main crop of the year, so the family pays special attention to all preparations. This year, in addition to traditional flowers such as chrysanthemums, dahlias, gladiolus, and pansies, the family has also invested in planting nearly 8,000 high-quality lily plants. These days, the family is rushing to plant seeds and prepare the land.

The Tet flower crop usually starts sowing from the middle of the 9th lunar month. Learning from previous flower crops, this year, in addition to carefully preparing conditions such as: seeds, land, fertilizers, care techniques..., flower growers in Nghia Hoa also carefully study the weather. Because this is the factor that determines the success or failure of the whole crop.

“Growing flowers is much more effective than other crops, but it depends a lot on the weather. If the weather is favorable, it will definitely bring high economic efficiency,” said Ms. Le Thi An, a flower grower in Nghia Hoa commune.
If in the past, farmers mainly grew sugarcane and cassava in this area, now it has been gradually replaced by flowers. The area for growing flowers in Nghia Hoa has also increased accordingly. Up to now, the whole commune has over 1 hectare of land for growing flowers, concentrated in hamlet 5 and Dong Hoa hamlet. For many years, the Tet flower crop has brought a good income to farmers, contributing to increasing income, improving people's lives and creating jobs for local workers.

In Thai Hoa town, in addition to Nghia Hoa, flowers are also commonly grown in Nghia Thuan commune and Long Son and Quang Tien wards with a total area of over 5 hectares. Tet flower season is expected by many growers because this is the main crop of the year. However, in addition to planting and care techniques, weather is always a decisive factor. Therefore, flower growers in Thai Hoa need to be proactive in having timely care solutions to help flowers grow and develop well, especially to bloom right on Tet./.
