Russia moves deep into areas controlled by US allies in Syria

Russian troops have entered an area of northern Syria controlled by US-backed Kurdish forces, following Mr Trump's announcement of a troop withdrawal.

More than 86,000 rebels have been killed in Syria with Russian support.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that, with the support of Russian soldiers, more than 86,000 militants of terrorist groups were destroyed in Syria.
Syrian army drives rebels out of volcanic stronghold

The Syrian army is clearing IS remnants from the rocky Tulul al-Safa region in the south of the country. Lava from an ancient volcano and natural sediments in the area have created ideal hiding places for rebels.
