Nhon Mai is a border commune in a remote area of ​​Tuong Duong district, with a 17.874 km long border and 5 border markers. This is the residence of 3 ethnic groups living together: Thai, Mong, Kho Mu with a total population of 849 households/3,974 people. The people have a revolutionary tradition, actively carry out socio-economic, defense and security tasks, participate in management and firmly protect the territorial sovereignty and border security of the Fatherland.

In 2022, the Party Committee, government and ethnic people of Nhon Mai commune, together with the armed forces, united, overcame difficulties and achieved quite comprehensive results. Hunger eradication, poverty reduction and social security were given attention; people's material and spiritual life made much progress. Party building and political system building. National defense and security were ensured. However, the terrain here is rugged and complicated, the climate is harsh, the poverty rate is high, accounting for nearly 66%.

On this occasion, comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu and the delegation also visited and wished a Happy New Year to the officers and soldiers of Nhon Mai Border Post. This unit manages and protects 28,111km of national border, with 08 border markers (from marker 381 to marker 388), the area includes 02 communes of Nhon Mai and Mai Son, Tuong Dung district, with 21 villages; population of 1,344 households/6,447 people, mainly Thai, Mong and Kho Mu people.

According to the report of Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thanh Hong - Chief of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station, in 2022, the situation on the border is basically stable, the sovereignty and security of the border, border lines and border markers are maintained; political security, social order and safety in the area are basically stable, people are assured to do business and production, well comply with the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, and local regulations; firmly manage and protect the sovereignty and security of the national border.

Border Guard officers and soldiers coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, Forest Rangers and the Forest Protection Management Board of Tuong Duong district to patrol the border, border markers and inspect and protect the forest. Through inspection, the border and border markers were stable, no criminal activities of encroachment or violation of border regulations were detected; the forest was not exploited or destroyed.

The unit presided over and coordinated the arrest of 06 cases/09 subjects, seized evidence - 12,016 synthetic drug pills, 0.5 kg of opium, 2.55 grams of heroin.

The unit has mobilized sister units, organizations, and philanthropists to organize the programs "Warm Tet at the border", "Warm Border Spring for the people". In 2022, the unit coordinated and presented gifts and money to poor and near-poor households, policy families, village elders, prestigious people, and students in the area with a total value of more than 550 million VND.

The unit strictly implements the contents of Border Guard foreign affairs, coordinates with the localities of the two border communes of Nhon Mai and Mai Son to effectively implement the program of village-to-village friendship on both sides of the border with Laos, and effectively implements the work of relations and information exchange with the border protection force and authorities of the border villages of the neighboring country...
