(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 22, Thanh Chuong District People's Committee coordinated with Dai Dong Commune People's Committee to organize a ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a provincial historical, architectural and artistic relic for Nguyen Viet family temple.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture & Sports. Leaders of the District Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee of the district and commune, along with many descendants of the family, attended.

Nguyen Viet family temple was built during the Nguyen Dynasty. Although it has been hundreds of years, it still retains its original architectural structure, with two ancient buildings. In particular, the worshiping house is the crystallization of aesthetic values. Through the skillful hands of talented artisans, the worshiping house has become a very unique work of sculpture with traditional themes such as: Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle, Phoenix and stylized with many different artistic techniques, creating diversity in architecture, enhancing the aesthetic value of the spiritual architectural work.

The decorative themes are arranged symmetrically and harmoniously such as "dragon fish playing in water", "bamboo turns into dragon", "lotus turns into tiger", "phoenix holding a letter carrying the word longevity", "phoenix dancing", "tiger holding longevity", "apricot transforming into dragon", "bamboo turns into dragon with twin longevity", "dragon holding twin longevity"... Along with that are floral motifs: lotus, pine, bamboo, apricot... mixed together, showing creativity in decorative art. Each design and decorative theme on each structure has its own meaning, together with a harmonious and balanced layout, creating unique works of art with high aesthetic value. The relic also preserves many valuable documents and artifacts such as the writing system on wooden structures, parallel sentences, horizontal lacquered boards, altars, stone steles...

The relic is not only a place for cultural and spiritual activities of the descendants of the family, but also the place where many important local historical events took place, recorded in history books, such as: the location for printing leaflets of secret documents of the Party in the period of 1930-1931; used as a warehouse to store food for the resistance war (1968-1969); was the place where the Engineering Unit stayed (1971)...

This is also a family with a revolutionary tradition, studiousness and good learning. During the two resistance wars against France and the US, many children of the family enthusiastically went to defend the Fatherland. According to statistics, the family had 11 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the two resistance wars and 2 heroic Vietnamese Mothers. Promoting the tradition of their ancestors, the descendants of the family have continuously studied and researched. Currently, the family has 1 professor, 7 associate professors, 7 doctors, many masters, engineers and doctors who have been working and contributing to the construction of the homeland and the country.

With such historical, cultural, scientific and aesthetic values, Nguyen Viet family temple was awarded a Certificate of Merit by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and ranked as a provincial historical - architectural and artistic relic in Decision No. 3065 dated October 27, 2021.
