Pine forest in Nam Dan flared up again, threatening people's houses

It is known that at 10 am, the fires in the pine forests of hamlets 6, 7, 14, 16 of Khanh Son commune broke out again. Under the strong sun and wind, the fire spread quickly, making it very difficult to put out the fire.

Immediately after discovering the fire, Nam Dan district mobilized hundreds of officers, soldiers, and youth union members of the 414th Engineering Brigade, Fire Fighting Team No. 7, Mobile Team No. 2, Nam Dan District Youth Union, along with many vehicles to coordinate with the police force, militia, officers from local departments, organizations, and people of Khanh Son commune to continue fighting the fire.

The characteristic of today's fires is that they continue to burn the areas left yesterday, expanding to many new areas, spreading from the mountains to people's gardens and hills, approaching people's houses.

Therefore, the firefighting forces prioritize protecting people's property, stepping up prevention and stopping the fire from spreading to people's houses. In addition to using blowers and tree branches to put out fires at hot spots, creating firebreaks to surround fire spots, spraying water around people's houses, etc. are also emphasized.

Mr. To Ba Thang - Chairman of Khanh Son Commune People's Committee, who is directing the fire fighting at the scene, said: Thanks to the participation of many forces, by 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, the pine forest fires in Khanh Son Commune were temporarily controlled. The small fires in hamlets 14 and 16 were controlled a few hours earlier.

Currently, at the scene, smoke and ashes are still smoldering, while the sun is strong and the wind is blowing, the risk of fire breaking out again is very high, so the People's Committee of Khanh Son commune has assigned the forest owner and some people to actively patrol, guard, and promptly report to the authorities for timely fire prevention and fighting.

Thus, after more than 1 day and night (noon 1/7 - afternoon 2/7), the big fire in Khanh Son commune occurred in many hamlets, burning down many areas of local pine forests. Khanh Son commune authorities are also counting the area of ​​burned forest and investigating to find out the cause of the incident.

Previously, on the night of July 1, a pine forest fire in Son Tien commune, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh) spread to hamlet 16, Khanh Son commune. It was not until 2:00 a.m. on July 2 that local forces and people were able to control the fire.
