Drunk driver 'passed checkpoint' to drive car into Vinh walking street, heavily fined

(Baonghean.vn) - During the time Vinh walking street is in operation, vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering, however, a driver brazenly drove his car past the checkpoint while drunk.

Information from the Traffic Police - Order Team,Vinh City PoliceThe unit has drawn up an administrative fine and temporarily detained the vehicle and driver's license of the driver who drove the car into Vinh walking street on the evening of July 9.

Specifically, at around 10 p.m. on July 9, driver NTT, born in 1984 and residing in Vinh City, drove his car onto Ho Tung Mau Street while the neighborhood was organizing a walking street, strictly prohibiting vehicles from entering or exiting.

Despite the prohibition sign and the authorities requesting the vehicle to stop, the driver continued to "pass the checkpoint" and drive the vehicle into the walking street. Faced with that situation, the Traffic Police - Order Team, Vinh City Police, Truong Thi Ward Police andWalking Street Management Boardcoordinated to control the driver to ensure public safety.

When the driver got out of the car and showed signs of being drunk, the authorities measured the alcohol concentration and determined that the driver violated the alcohol concentration while driving.

Accordingly, the Traffic Police - Order Team of Vinh City has drawn up an administrative violation record for the violations of "Driving a vehicle into a prohibited area" with a fine of 2.5 million VND and "Driving a car with an alcohol concentration of 0.25 mg/liter of breath" with a fine of 7 million VND, suspension of the driver's license for 12 months and vehicle detention for 7 days.

A representative of the Walking Street Management Board said: During the time the walking street is in operation, only vehicles of agencies, units, and households with houses and headquarters in the walking street are allowed to enter and exit and must present their cards at checkpoints. Other vehicles are absolutely not allowed to enter or exit the walking street.

The case of a drunk driver driving a car on a pedestrian street is very dangerous and can cause an accident.
