(Baonghean) - In recent years, based on the policy of the Education sector and the support of the Town, schools in Thai Hoa Town have had many solutions to mobilize and use books and newspapers in a diverse and effective manner; contributing to promoting emulation movements in teaching and learning, gradually forming reading habits and culture not only for students but also for teachers...

Hoa Hieu 1 Primary School (Hoa Hieu Ward) is one of the first primary schools in Thai Hoa Town to be recognized as meeting level 2 standards quite early (since 2008) and has maintained its achievements to this day. In addition to the library, reading room and fully functional classrooms, the school has a spacious campus, shaded by green trees. The above conditions are the basis for the school to arrange an outdoor "green library" including mobile bookshelves and a system of stone benches arranged right in the school yard for children to play and read books. Ms. Tran Thi Loan - Principal of the school said: After building a standard library with an area of 65m2, the school annually spends about 25 million VND to buy additional books and order newspapers. Thanks to persistent investment, the library now has thousands of books and newspapers. In addition to textbooks for teaching, the school has a full range of supplementary books and various types of books, newspapers and magazines to provide information and foster knowledge and skills for teachers and students.

Hoa Hieu 2 Primary School was certified later and does not have a spacious campus like Hoa Hieu 1 Primary School, but the school has a creative approach. Due to having to increase the number of classes, this year the students' reading room was temporarily arranged with the music room, but that did not affect the students' joy of reading. In addition to music lessons, students can read and borrow books from the mobile bookshelf located outside the school yard. The school's principal, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hanh, said: In addition to the books that the school adds every year, the ward and the Department of Education support the purchase of all...

At Quang Tien Primary School, Mr. Au Xuan Tien - Vice Principal said: Since 2013, the school has had a standard reading room. Although the school does not have a spacious green library, thanks to the attention of the Town, it has been invested in facilities for teaching and learning, 4/5 grades have taught according to the VNEN program of the Ministry of Education. In addition to books and newspapers purchased by the school, a unit from Ho Chi Minh City also sponsors 130 books each year, along with thousands of books and newspapers donated by students every year, so the school library is quite rich with over 930 books/8,000 books; newspapers and topics are carefully preserved.

The common point among schools is that in order to have more books and newspapers suitable for the children's age, during the lifelong learning week or the annual reading holiday, according to the instructions of the Department of Education, schools organize and call on students to donate and support books. Therefore, the source of books for children in the libraries is quite rich. In addition to books and newspapers for teachers, there are many books suitable for children, such as books telling stories about Uncle Ho, children's comics in words or pictures, books telling stories about famous people... Every week, outside of regular school hours, during recess or on Tuesdays and Thursdays, books are arranged on mobile bookshelves located right in the school yard, or under the shade of green trees so that children can easily take them out to read during recess. The bookshelves in each class are changed weekly for students to choose from... Thanks to the appropriate space and time, reading books has become a very useful and meaningful outdoor activity, creating a habit of reading books for students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hanh shared: Currently, the amount of knowledge as well as the pressure on students as well as primary school teachers is increasing. To meet the teaching needs, information through lesson plans in class is not enough, but must be regularly updated from books, newspapers and other supporting documents. Currently, information from the press is quite diverse, due to habits and conditions, reading books and printed newspapers is still the advantage and suitable for the pedagogical environment.

It can be said that thanks to the effective use of the system of books, newspapers and magazines, the teaching and learning emulation movement of the above schools has developed quite comprehensively. In the competitions for excellent students and excellent teachers at the town and provincial levels, the above primary schools are always the leading units in terms of achievements in the town's education sector; the school's Party cell continuously achieves the title of clean and strong. Not only that, the movement of reading and using books and newspapers has gradually become more substantial and effective. Even when, due to objective conditions, the temporary reading room is arranged together with the music room or the English room, the reading conditions of teachers and students are still guaranteed. In the 2013-2014 school year, Hoa Hieu 2 Primary School was awarded the title of School with Advanced Library by the Department of Education and Provincial Library...

In addition to the above prominent “nuclei”, up to now, most schools in Thai Hoa Town have independent, fairly spacious libraries, some primary schools have bookshelves in each classroom and books are rotated weekly for students to read... In ordering and using party newspapers, Thai Hoa Town is one of the units with the most attention and drastic direction. In addition to directing to ensure that 100% (59/59) of school party cells order and use party newspapers according to regulations, from the beginning of the school year, the department has issued documents guiding the organization of reading books and newspapers and launching reading, accordingly, schools organize for students to read books on the first day of the week every week and introduce books once a month. Regularly coordinate with local Party committees, the Town Post Office and the Town Party Committee's Propaganda Department to have timely direction and purchase enough newspapers for schools.

Mr. Tran Minh Hai - Head of the Education Department of Thai Hoa Town said: Ordering and using books and newspapers in general and party newspapers in particular is not only the responsibility of the school's Party cell, but also the right of party members and teachers. Reading newspapers, especially party newspapers, in addition to having accurate information about the Party and State's policies, is also an information channel to raise awareness and understanding in many fields for teachers.
