(Baonghean.vn) - Working with the People's Committee of Tan Ky district, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council requested that the locality pay attention to the work of receiving, classifying, and handling voters' petitions and when there is a response from all levels, it is necessary to inspect, supervise, and urge thorough resolution.

Urge to resolve voters' petitions

On the afternoon of September 19, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council had a meeting with the People's Committee of Tan Ky district to supervise the settlement of voters' petitions from the beginning of the 2021-2026 term to present. Comrade Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the supervision delegation of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council chaired the meeting.

Before the working session, the Provincial People's Council's monitoring delegation directly met and listened to opinions from voters and some localities on the implementation process, difficulties and proposals from the grassroots related to 4 specific recommendations of voters under the authority of the Provincial People's Committee.

The recommendations of Giai Xuan commune voters related to the recovery of land area managed and used by TNXP4 - Song Con Company Limited (former TNXP 4 General Team) and transferred to the commune for management; recommendations and reflections of Dong Van commune voters related to Hoang Danh Company Limited mining and encroaching on land of households and arbitrarily using water sources for daily life and production of some local households; recommendations of voters and people of Tan Lap hamlet, Tan Hop commune regarding the authorities conducting investigations into the environment, diseases and water quality, because many people here have cancer of unknown causes; proposals of voters of Nghia Dung and Nghia Dong communes to request the province to arrange and support resources for the construction of Duc Ong temple relic and Lang Sen communal house.

Directly discussing with voters, relevant agencies and localities, comrade Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council emphasized that the purpose of the supervision is that the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council wishes to fully listen to the "three-sided, one-word" opinions from voters, commune authorities, relevant units and district authorities. Thereby, accurately grasping the nature of the problems, difficulties and obstacles, including those that have been resolved by the Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments and branches but have not satisfied the wishes of voters.

On that basis, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council continues to work with the Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments and branches to find solutions to ensure the legitimate rights of voters. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nhu Khoi also affirmed that the Provincial People's Council will urge and pursue voters' recommendations to the end so that all levels and branches can take action to resolve them.

Clarifying issues when resolving voters' petitions

Working with the People's Committee of Tan Ky district, members of the monitoring delegation requested the locality to clarify the current process of handling and responding to voters' petitions. Difficulties and problems need to be learned from, adjusted and supplemented in the implementation of the process of receiving, handling and responding to the results of handling voters' petitions according to Decision 25 of the Provincial People's Committee.

Regarding the specific 4 voters' petitions under the jurisdiction of the Provincial People's Committee mentioned above, some members of the monitoring delegation proposed that the district should learn from experience, promptly direct and urge the grassroots to coordinate in implementing the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee in resolving voters' petitions; at the same time, pay attention to informing and propagating the results of petition resolution to voters fully and promptly.

Based on the opinions of the members of the monitoring team, the leaders and specialized departments at the district level directly explained, clarified and proposed a number of issues.

Comrade Phan Van Giap - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Ky district proposed that the Provincial People's Committee and departments and branches need to strengthen better coordination with the district level in resolving voters' petitions, avoiding opinions being transferred to the province, and the province handing them over to the district while the district level's expertise in some areas has limitations.

At the end of the meeting, comrade Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the monitoring delegation of the Provincial People's Council Standing Committee highly appreciated the role and responsibility of the locality in taking care of resolving voters' opinions and recommendations, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the area.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also requested the People's Committee of Tan Ky district to continue reviewing the results of resolving voters' petitions in the area; clarify which contents have not been agreed by voters with the settlement results, the responsibilities of each level, department and branch, so that the monitoring delegation has a basis to work with the Provincial People's Committee and departments and branches to thoroughly resolve voters' petitions.

Along with that, the district needs to pay more attention to the work of receiving, classifying, and handling voters' petitions and when there are responses from all levels, it is necessary to check, supervise, and urge thorough resolution; proactively study and propose amendments to Decision No. 25, dated July 11, 2019 of the Provincial People's Committee on promulgating the Regulations on receiving, resolving and responding to voters' petitions in Nghe An province according to digital transformation requirements.
