Vinh City spends over 60 billion VND to prevent flooding before the rainy season
(Baonghean.vn) - Faced with increasing flooding, based on a field survey, the Provincial People's Committee agreed to spend 60 billion VND from the 2021-2022 medium-term capital source to focus on handling and preventing flooding in Vinh city.
From the beginning of 2021 until now,Vinh City10 projects have been implementedflood protectionThese are: Construction of a number of canals to connect the existing technical infrastructure system, connecting from the Vinh ancient citadel drainage canal, crossing Dang Thai Than street to Cua Nam lake; flood control works in hamlets 1, 2, 3, 13A, 13B, 14 and 15 (Nghi Kim commune); local flood control in Truong Thi area; Nguyen Son street.

Upgrading the regulating lake, pumping station No. 3 (Ben Thuy ward); drainage system to prevent flooding in block 1, block 12 (Trung Do ward); preventing local flooding in the areas of Duy Tan, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Hong Bang, Nguyen Thai Hoc streets.
Along with direct investment, through infrastructure upgrade projects andurban renewalVinh city also invested tens of billions of dong in the canal system, contributing to drainage and flood prevention.

The city is currently implementing the replacement of a drainage ditch with a 2 x 2 m aperture to replace the previous 1.2 x 1.2 m culvert along both sides of Ho Tung Mau Street; replacing a drainage ditch with a 2 x 2 m aperture along Nguyen Phong Sac Street to the North Canal, the eastern sidewalk of Truong Chinh Street, from the Ly Thuong Kiet intersection to Vinh Railway Station Market.
In addition, Vinh Urban Infrastructure Investment and Management Joint Stock Company constructed hundreds of wells and manholes on Duy Tan Street, from drainage ditch No. 2 from Le Hong Phong to Nguyen Tai to Nai Bridge; invested more funds to dredge clogged ditches and manholes on many streets...
In total, there are about 18 projects related to drainage and flood control.

According to the approved plan, flood prevention and urban beautification projects will be implemented from now until December 31, 2021. However, due to the nature of flood prevention projects, it is necessary to avoidrainy seasonTherefore, the city has urged contractors to speed up progress and focus construction resources to complete before August 2021.

Currently, Vinh city has handled about 50% of the areas that are often deeply flooded, reducing the risk of flooding during this year's rainy and stormy season.
However, to effectively promote anti-flooding projects, the city needs to continue to focus on investing in handling urban infrastructure items that are bottlenecks causing congestion and flooding such as the drainage to Vinh Tan Pumping Station, drainage ditches along Ho Tong Thoc Street and Le Nin Avenue, near the Provincial General Hospital of Friendship.../.
