(Baonghean.vn) - During the 2-day weekend, many city residents complain about not knowing where to go for a change of pace. With limited time and limited budget, don't miss out on a picnic at Ve Vung Dam (Yen Thanh) - an ideal camping spot just over 50km from Vinh City.

After a busy week at work, we chose Ve Vung Dam to refresh our spirit. From Vinh City, traveling by motorbike, our group only took about 1 hour to get there.

Ve Vung Dam is located in the west of Yen Thanh district, about 9km from town, belonging to all 3 communes of Dong Thanh, Kim Thanh and Quang Thanh.

Ve Vung Dam has a water surface area of about 720 hectares of green, winding between protective forests, containing more than 20 million m3 of water for irrigation and daily life of people in the area.

During the drought season, the water level at Ve Vung dam drops sharply, revealing many shallows, "sunken islands", along with natural water grass carpets, creating extremely romantic scenes.

The water receded with each irrigation period for agricultural production, accidentally forming ripples of land along the water's edge, emerging in the sparkling afternoon sun. Going deeper, we chose a fairly flat floating area to set up camp, preparing to enjoy a "night of a thousand stars" at Ve Vung.

Unfortunately for the impromptu "traveling" team, before the tent could be set up, a sudden downpour came. The rain soaked the top of the tent, and most of the belongings they brought along were also soaked, and their high spirits suddenly dropped.

Then, about half an hour later, the rain stopped, the hot and humid air before the rain disappeared, returning the sky to a cool and blue sky. The rays of sunlight gradually appeared, the colorful clouds and the wind made the whole group excited again, quickly urging each other to bring out their cameras to "work", to preserve the beautiful and heart-wrenching images of Ve Vung dam.

Regardless of their wet belongings, everyone shouted to each other to pump up the rubber boat and launch it. Although they had traveled near and far many times, this was the first time they tried using a rubber boat, so it took a while of turning around in the middle of the lake for everyone to learn to coordinate and balance their strength to move in the right direction.

The small boats gradually obeyed the driver, gliding gently between the clouds and the water. In this vast and peaceful space, humans suddenly became strangely small!

Enjoy playing with the rubber boat until you are exhausted, then return to shore and everyone starts to show off their skills in making rustic dishes from the ingredients prepared before the trip. Here everything is from nature, people seem to have returned to the... primitive time!

Electricity, gas stoves… all became luxuries. There was only one knife and a wood stove made from a few rocks to prepare meals for 12 hungry people. All the culinary quintessence of "field" was encapsulated in one word: "grill": grilled chicken, grilled buffalo meat and grilled vegetables. The ingredients were wrapped in foil, thrown into the pre-lit campfire, then waited and enjoyed.

At night on Ve Vung, all around was quiet darkness and a sky full of stars, occasionally appearing a few streaks of light like comets, making the night scene even more magical.

Under the flickering light of the campfire, the sound of music and singing, tipsy in the alcohol fumes, all members drifted to the music as if they were one, the initial apprehensions disappeared, only friendly eyes and warm handshakes remained.

"The night of a thousand stars" on Ve Vung dam is fresh and magical with family, friendship, love, making everyone want to engrave this peaceful moment forever...

Awakened by the early crowing of jungle fowls, the opaque mist still lingering on the water's surface, the dew drops on the water grass in the morning sunlight sparkling like pearls.

No car horns, no hustle and bustle, no rush, each person in hand a cup of makeshift coffee cooked on a charcoal stove that had been smoldering since late at night, slowly inhaling and enjoying. Everyone slowly enjoyed this rare moment of peace...

Having been to many famous and... not-so-famous tourist destinations in Nghe An, it can be affirmed that Ve Vung is one of the places you should visit once in your life.

There are few destinations that meet the criteria for a short trip: low cost (if traveling in a group and with basic food needs, each person only needs about 200,000 VND), open space with a true picnic feel and terrain characteristics that can organize many group games. What are you waiting for? Pack your backpack and go, because wonderful "thousand starry nights" are waiting!
