Attending the ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Vo Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of the tournament organizing committee; and relevant departments and branches.

The 34th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup National Cycling Tournament 2022 with the theme "United Country - Belief in Victory" officially opened in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province on April 6.

The tournament is organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) in coordination with the Vietnam Bicycle - Motor Sports Federation and other localities and units.

The race attracted 400 athletes from 14 strongest racing teams in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi with 23 stages of more than 2,316 km along the length of the country. The starting point was in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province and the destination was Thong Nhat Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 8th stage of the race started from Thanh Hoa and finished at Ho Chi Minh Square in Vinh City - Nghe An, with a total length of 139km.

The distance of the race was not the longest, but the hot weather exhausted the athletes.cyclistHowever, many racing teams still proved their strength, when applying many reasonable tactics to achieve their set goals.

In particular, the audience witnessed the fierce competition between two racing teams, Loc Troi An Giang Group and Dopagan Dong Thap. The average speed throughout the race was maintained by the cyclists at over 40km/h.

With a lightning-fast sprint, racer Tran Tuan Kiet of Dopagan Dong Thap team excellently finished first in stage 8. Second place was Quang Van Cuong of Loc Troi An Giang team and this is also the racer who owns the yellow jersey after 8 stages of racing.

After this stage, the teams will continue to the race from Vinh City to Quang Binh. This is the longest race of the tournament with a total length of more than 200km, the destination is Phong Nha Ke Bang Tourist Area in Quang Binh./.
