Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission presents Tet gifts to policy families and poor households in Dien Chau district

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 8, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission visited, presented gifts, and wished a happy New Year to families with meritorious services and poor households in Dien Chau district.

Attending the program were comrades: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Ho Le Ngoc - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; leaders of Dien Chau district.

Reporting on the results of the implementation of socio-economic development tasks, ensuring national defense and security of the district in 2023, Chairman of Dien Chau District People's Committee Tang Van Luyen said that in recent years, Dien Chau district has reduced the poverty rate from 2.47% to 1.72%. Up to now, the district still has 1,371 poor households, 2,697 near-poor households and households with sudden difficulties.

The district has mobilized more than 8.3 billion VND to build and repair 483 houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties. To date, the district has started construction of 143 new houses and repaired 12 houses, helping people celebrate Tet in a solid and spacious home.

To ensure families enjoy Tet and welcome Spring, the district has mobilized units, businesses and individuals inside and outside the area to support more than 7.6 billion VND to give more than 10,000 gifts to policy households and poor households.

Speaking at the program, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission acknowledged and congratulated the socio-economic development results of Dien Chau district in 2023, especially the recognition of the district as meeting new rural standards.

Emphasizing that this is an honor and pride but also poses many difficulties and challenges for the district, comrade Phan Dinh Trac suggested that Dien Chau district be determined to eliminate temporary houses for more than 300 households in 2024; strive to reduce the poverty rate by the end of 2024 to below 0.6%, and by the end of 2025 to 0.5%.

In particular, the Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee requested Dien Chau district to pay attention and create conditions for people to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2024 safely, healthily, and economically, ensuring that everyone and every family has a Tet holiday, leaving no one behind.

On this occasion, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee mobilized businesses to donate 1 billion VND to Nghe An province and 4 billion VND to Dien Chau district to take care of Tet for policy families and poor households.
