Trial of 17 subjects gambling by shaking dice
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Court of Nghia Dan district (Nghe An) has just held a public trial of a gambling case against subjects all residing in Nghia Thinh commune, Nghia Dan district.
According to the indictment: At about 6:00 p.m. on March 1, 2018, at Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh's house in Hamlet 8, Nghia Thinh Commune, Nghia Dan District, the subjects including: Nguyen Van Quynh, Nguyen Cong Hai, Nguyen Cong Quan, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Cong Long, Nguyen Cong Nguyen, Ho Sy Thong, Nguyen Cong Duc, Nguyen Cong Thang, Nguyen Van Chien, Nguyen Cong Duy, Lang Thi Trang, Nguyen Cong Huy, Nguyen Van Quyen, Ho Huu Duc, Nguyen Cong Hai, Nguyen Quoc Lap played dice together, with bets ranging from 10,000 VND to 200,000 VND.

At around 8:00 p.m. the same day, the police investigation agency (Nghia Dan District Police) caught the subjects red-handed gambling, confiscating at the gambling table a set of white porcelain bowls and plates, 4 dice and a total amount of money the subjects used for gambling of 8,370,000 VND.
The gambling behavior of the subjects violated Clause 1, Article 321 of the Penal Code. At the trial, the defendants honestly confessed their crimes.
At the end of the trial, the Trial Panel sentenced Nguyen Van Quynh and Nguyen Cong Hai to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence; the defendants Quan, Phuong, Long Nguyen, Thong, Duc, Thang, and Chien were sentenced to 6 to 9 months of non-custodial reform.
The remaining defendants Duy, Trang, Huy, Quyen, Duc, Hai, and Lap were fined 20 million VND.
