World Environment Day (June 5) is an important annual international environmental event that Vietnam and Nghe An province have responded to for many years, and has become a specific and practical activity contributing to raising public awareness of environmental protection.
The theme of World Environment Day 2018 is “Beat plastic pollution”to call on the international community to step up propaganda, raise awareness of the harmful effects and pressure of plastic waste and nylon bags on the environment, thereby changing consumption habits and disposing of plastic waste, raising responsibility in the rational use of natural resources, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.

In addition to World Environment Day, June 8 is also World Oceans Day and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week, from June 1 to 8 with the 2018 theme: "Join hands to keep the sea blue".
At the rally, Mr. Pham Van Toan - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment called on all levels, sectors, the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations to step up propaganda work, raise awareness of environmental protection, and respond to climate change and rising sea levels.

Along with that, we must resolutely fight and expose the plots and tricks of hostile forces and opportunists who take advantage of sea and island disputes to distort, incite, and complicate the security and order situation, affecting the socio-economic development in the area.
All levels and sectors need to continue to improve the effectiveness of natural resource management and environmental protection by strengthening inspection, examination and supervision of the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection in the province; strictly handling violations of the law on natural resources and environment; promptly resolving and handling environmental pollution incidents; controlling the collection, transportation and treatment of waste and garbage; concentrating resources to thoroughly resolve environmental pollution problems from waste and garbage that are directly affecting people's lives...
