New outbreak of avian influenza A/H5N6 appears in Nghe An

The outbreak of avian influenza A/H5N6 recently occurred in Yen Thanh district at the poultry farm of Mr. Doan Van Tam, Dong Long hamlet, Dong Thanh mountainous commune, on March 30.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said that after having a positive test sample for avian influenza A/H5N6 at a household raising poultry in Dong Thanh commune, the authorities of the district and commune organized the destruction of all more than 1,900 poultry of Mr. Doan Van Tam's family. At the same time, chemicals and lime powder were provided for the family to disinfect inside and outside the barn area.

"Because Mr. Doan Van Tam's farm is isolated and far from residential areas, the district's professional agencies have instructed people in the area to absolutely not release poultry and to proactively vaccinate against H/H5N6 avian influenza," said Mr. Nguyen Van Duong.

Faced with the risk that avian influenza A/H5N6 could spread widely, on the morning of March 31, Yen Thanh district held an online meeting with communes on the implementation of measures to prevent avian influenza A/H5N6 in poultry flocks: Strengthening the cleaning of barns, disinfection; controlling the slaughter and transportation of poultry, and continuing to vaccinate against the disease in spring poultry flocks.

Yen Thanh district currently has more than 3 million poultry of all kinds, of which Dong Thanh commune has more than 85 thousand./.
