Lumpy skin disease in cattle spreads to Yen Thanh district
(Baonghean.vn) - Yen Thanh is the latest locality in the province to have this disease. Currently, the district's functional forces are focusing on zoning and controlling the spread of the disease.
Information from the district Department of Agriculture and Rural DevelopmentYen Thanhsaid that the lumpy skin disease epidemic has just appeared in Tan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, causing many buffaloes and cows to get sick, of which the locality had to destroy one dead cow.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: "With a total herd of over 40,000 buffaloes and cows, the occurrence of lumpy skin disease is very worrying. We have currently directed the commune toTan Thanhisolate and quarantine infected cattle for treatment. In addition, localities need to call on people to urgently register for lumpy skin disease vaccination, to prevent the disease from spreading widely."
Thus, Yen Thanh district is the 19th locality in Nghe An province to have this dangerous epidemic, currently there are only 2 localities left.Ky Sonand Tuong Duong has not had any epidemic.

By April 12, the lumpy skin disease had infected more than 1,500 buffalo and cows in the province, with a very high rate of spread. (From the beginning of the year to April 1, only more than 600 cows were infected.) The number of cows, calves, and calves that had to be destroyed was 108, with a total weight of nearly 18 tons.

Faced with the complicated developments of the epidemic, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has allocated over 200,000 doses of lumpy skin disease vaccine for simultaneous vaccination in localities. Nghe An province has also provided 13,000 liters of chemicals to spray disinfectants throughout the province.
