Disabled girl inspires support for Covid-19 prevention in Do Luong

(Baonghean.vn) - Dang Thi Phuong, a disabled girl in Hamlet 7, Lam Son Commune, Do Luong District (Nghe An) used all the money she earned to support the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic in Do Luong.

On the afternoon of April 6, many members of the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Support Reception Committee of Do Luong district were extremely surprised and moved when they received a girl who had difficulty walking and speaking, but had traveled a long distance with her friends to donate 1 million VND. That was Dang Thi Phuong in Hamlet 7, Lam Son Commune.

The amount may not be much for many people, but for a disabled girl without a stable job, it is a significant amount. Talking to Phuong, I learned that the donation was the amount she had saved after several months of selling online, along with a portion from a close friend. “It’s just my small gesture,” Phuong said modestly.

Phuong's house is in Lam Son commune. This girl, born in 1988, was born prematurely and had difficulty walking and speaking since she was a child, so she did not start first grade until she was 10 years old. Every day on the country roads, people gradually became familiar with the image of a disabled girl who loved to study, being carried by her parents on the back of a motorbike to school. There were times when she felt self-conscious, discouraged, and wanted to give up, but with a positive attitude, she overcame everything, studied hard, and graduated from high school and a college of pharmacy.

Currently, this disabled girl still does not have a stable job and is earning extra income by selling online.

Mr. Le Khac Ngoc - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Do Luong district said that the unit has received many individuals and organizations to support the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic, but the case of a disabled person like Dang Thi Phuong is the first. Her work has contributed to inspiring and spreading the movement to join hands to support the prevention and fight against Covid-19 in the locality.

Up to now, the amount of money and goods converted into cash to support the prevention and fight against Covid-19 in Do Luong district has reached about 2.3 billion VND.
