African swine fever outbreak in 5 more communes in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, in 4 days (from June 21 to 24), 5 outbreaks of African swine fever occurred in Nghe An in the following localities: Vinh City, Yen Thanh, Ky Son and Quynh Luu.
Specifically, in Vinh City, there is an outbreak in Nghi Phu commune; Yen Thanh added 2 communes: Nhan Thanh and Vien Thanh; Ky Son added Dooc May commune and Quynh Luu added a new commune, Quynh Lam.

Thus, as of June 24, Yen Thanh district is the locality with the highest number of communes testing positive for African swine fever in the province, with 25 communes, in just over 1 month.
Quynh Luu and Ky Son districts each have 15 communes with African swine fever. Vinh City has 3 outbreaks in 3 localities: Vinh Tan Ward, Nghi Lien Commune and Nghi Phu Commune.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hieu - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Ky Son district said that the most difficult thing for the locality with African swine fever is the households raising pigs, whose pigs are ready to be sold but cannot be sold or slaughtered, so they have to invest in feed for a long time, affecting the economy. If a new outbreak continues to occur in that locality, the people will have more difficulties.![]() |

As of June 24, African swine fever had occurred in 1,422 households in 330 hamlets of 126 communes in 18 districts, towns and cities in the province. The total number of infected pigs that had been culled was 5,555, with a total weight of 244,858.6 kg.
