Hundreds of students in Quy Chau lost all their books and personal belongings after the flood.
(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (September 28), many schools in Quy Chau began cleaning, reviewing the damage and preparing plans to quickly stabilize the school. However, the recovery is facing many difficulties because hundreds of students have lost all their books and belongings.
This morning, the High School UnionQuy Chauorganized a delegation of teachers to inspect the actual situation at students' boarding houses after the flood on September 27. Currently, the entire Quy Chau High School has more than 1,100 students staying outside.

FloodThe recent unexpected flood has caused many students to fall into difficulty when all their property and school supplies were damaged and swept away by floodwaters. Of these, the number of students who suffered heavy losses was about 200; 287 students lost all their books, clothes, and personal belongings. In addition, they also lost 7 electric motorbikes, 72 electric fans, 96 gas stoves, and 7 phones.

Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper on the morning of September 28, teacher Cao Thanh Luu - Principal of the school said: The students who suffered heavy losses mainly live in boarding houses, near rivers, near streams and their circumstances are very difficult.
This flood also caused about 70m of the school's fence to collapse and the sports field to be damaged.
Previously, right after the water flooded the boarding houses and students had to flee the flood at night, Quy Chau High School organized for the students to stay temporarily in the classrooms and multi-purpose hall of the school. Since yesterday, the school's Union and Youth Union have allocated a portion of the budget and support from benefactors to organize free meals for the students. In addition, the school has also called for support, first of all by donating books, clothes, and some school supplies for the students.

The school principal also added: The school is trying to get students back to school as early as this week. However, the biggest challenge right now is student accommodation, as the rooms where students are staying are all damaged. Meanwhile, the supply of accommodation in the area is no longer available. For now, students can share rooms with their classmates. In case there is not enough accommodation, the school will temporarily use some classrooms and functional rooms for students to stay temporarily until new rooms are available.

After 1 night, all assets, teaching aids, and textbooks of Chau Thang Primary School were also swept away by the water. Talking to us, teacher Tran Thi Hang - Principal of the school sadly said: Our school has "lost" all assets. Teaching and learning at the school is extremely difficult and it is not known when it will stabilize again.

Chau Thang Primary School is located in Xet village and is one of the schools that suffered the most damage due to the flood. According to teachers at the school, this is the biggest flood since the 2007 flood and the water level is much higher than the previous one. Because the flood came suddenly and happened at night, it was difficult to move property.

The school principal also added: In addition to books and school supplies, the flood also damaged all the televisions installed in classrooms and functional rooms. This morning, we called a technician to check, but the repair was only about 1%. Without television, teaching according to the new curriculum would be very inadequate. Meanwhile, mobilizing social resources is very difficult to implement because many parents also lost everything after the flood.

Ta Soi School - Chau Hanh Primary School was also completely damaged, including 4 televisions, textbooks and notebooks of more than 100 students from grades 1 to 4. In addition, many other school supplies were also submerged in flood water.
Talking about the school's difficulties, teacher Tran Thi Le - Principal of the school added: The floodwaters rose very quickly. When we received the information, we rushed to the school but all the roads were flooded and impassable. At that time, we only had time to contact some parents near the school for support but could not evacuate. Temporarily, the school is working with the authorities to clean up the classrooms so that the children can return to school soon. As for the remaining books and school supplies such as televisions, portable speakers and some other electronic devices, there is no solution yet.

As of this morning, the damage statistics of the storm and flood at the Department of Education and Training of Quy Chau district have not been completed. Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of the district said: The damage caused by the flood to schools, teachers and students in the area is very large. In fact, many teachers have just returned home this morning, so the full damage has not been fully recorded. For now, the Department has gone directly to the schools to inspect and requested that the schools coordinate with the authorities to focus on cleaning up the classrooms. After calculating the damage, the district will propose support plans.

In many localities in Nghe An, rain continued this morning and if the rain continues, many localities will still have to stay home from school. In the face of complicated rain and flood situations, the Department of Education and Training continues to direct schools to closely monitor the weather and proactively notify students to stay home from school to ensure safety. In addition, schools are also required to proactively move computer rooms on the first floor to upper floors or to higher places to ensure safety and minimize damage.
In Thanh Chuong district, this morning, 26/27 schools that were closed yesterday have reopened. The only school where students cannot go to school is Thanh Duc Primary School due to landslides on many roads, and some bridges and culverts under construction have been washed away, posing potential danger.
Mr. Tran Xuan Ha - Head of the District Education and Training Department added: This morning it is still raining heavily so the risk of flooding and isolation in the district is still happening, especially in communes such as Cat Ngan, Vo Liet, Ngoc Lam, Thanh Duc. We have asked schools to monitor weather developments to proactively organize teaching and learning.
