(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 19, the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district held a workshop to evaluate production results in 13 large fields producing high-quality rice in the spring crop of 2018.
This spring crop, Hung Nguyen district produced 5,641 hectares, with an expected rice yield of 67 - 68 quintals/hectare, considered the spring crop with the highest yield ever.
In order to promote the transformation of crop structure towards commodities, introduce new varieties with potential for high productivity, quality and efficiency into commodity production, in the spring crop of 2018, Hung Nguyen district continues to invest and direct the construction of large fields to produce high-quality rice, applying scientific and technological advances to production.

Through large-scale field production and demonstration trials to evaluate the yield, quality, and adaptability of rice varieties to supplement the structure, creating conditions to proactively select good varieties for large-scale production.
In addition to the district's funding support, many localities have combined funding to expand large-scale fields. The entire district has built 14 large fields, including 13 fields producing high-quality rice and 1 highly effective corn field, bringing the area of high-quality pure rice to 3,400 hectares/plan of 3,200 hectares; mainly cultivating varieties such as TBR 225, NA6, AC5, SV 181, Thien uu8, SL9...

According to general assessment, the models bring high economic efficiency compared to mass production from 16 - 34%. The rice varieties put into production are all adaptable to many different soil types, continuing to affirm their adaptability in Hung Nguyen fields, good tolerance to intensive farming, high yield and quality potential, suitable for commodity production.
Some varieties have outstanding productivity such as Lam Son 8, NA6. Through large-scale field production, farmers have initially approached new technical processes and intensive farming; most of them apply improved rice cultivation (ICM-SRI).
In addition to recognizing the achieved results, speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ngo Phu Han - Chairman of the District People's Committee suggested that it is necessary to continue to clearly identify some limitations to have measures to direct and overcome them in the coming time such as: The direction work in some units is still lacking in determination; some farming households have not properly implemented technical procedures, not preventing pests according to the instructions of technical staff, leading to losses due to neck blast and leaf blight.
In the coming time, Hung Nguyen plans to continue allocating funds from economic development sources, integrating investment sources (NTM, Decree 35) to organize and expand the model of large fields towards commodity production in the following crops; closely coordinate with associated enterprises to build large fields for commodity production, and purchase products for farmers.
