Mr. Vo Dinh Khoa - Head of the Livestock and Veterinary Station of Do Luong district said that 2 new outbreaks were discovered on June 30 in Trang Son and Quang Son communes. On the morning of July 1, the district People's Committee assigned members of the African swine fever prevention and control steering committee to go to the area to direct and supervise the epidemic prevention and control work.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, the owner of a pig farm with a herd infected with African swine fever, said: On the afternoon of June 30, local authorities and district veterinary officers destroyed 15 pigs (4 sows, 11 pigs, weighing from 80 - 140 kg/pig). The day before, the commune authorities also destroyed 4 of his family's pigs.

Mr. Le Dinh Thong - Chairman of Trang Son Commune People's Committee said: On the morning of July 1, the commune deployed to set up 2 checkpoints to block the entrance and exit of Hamlet 10. Before that, the commune also set up checkpoints to control livestock diseases, because some neighboring communes had outbreaks of disease. The commune has issued a notice to the people, from the morning of July 1, all people are not allowed to transport or slaughter pigs within 30 days.

In Quang Son commune, African swine fever occurred in hamlet 9. The number of pigs that had to be destroyed included 2 sows and 12 piglets with their mothers.
Trang Son is a locality with a large number of people working in pig slaughtering, specializing in supplying pig products to markets in Do Luong town and neighboring communes.As of July 1, Do Luong district had 8 outbreaks, with 13 outbreak points.
Muong Xen (Ky Son) tested positive for the epidemic
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Hieu - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Ky Son district, the epidemic occurred at Mr. Lu Van Viet's household in Block 4, Muong Xen town on June 30. During the day, the veterinary agency and the town government destroyed 6 pigs of Mr. Viet's family, with a total weight of 128 kg. At the same time, measures to prevent and control the epidemic were implemented according to the regulations of the veterinary agency.

Mr. Hieu added that on the morning of July 1, 3 pigs from another household in block 4 showed signs of illness, symptoms of African swine fever. Currently, the veterinary agency and local authorities are destroying them according to regulations.
Thus, up to now, Ky Son district has 16 communes and towns testing positive for African swine fever.
