Nghe An provincial leaders received and worked with a delegation of leaders and managers of the Communist Party of Cuba.

The delegation included comrades: Joy Puentes Saldise - Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam; Nieves Iliana Hernández Portales - officer of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Central Party Committee, and other comrades in the delegation.

Accompanying the delegation were comrade Duong Trung Y - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; leaders of the Department of Training and Development Management, the Department of International Cooperation and officers and experts of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

Receiving and working with the delegation, the leaders of Nghe An province were: Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Phung Thanh Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Nguyen Dinh Hung - Chief of the Provincial Party Committee's Office; and leaders of departments, agencies and branches.

Share lessons and practical experiences

In his welcoming speech, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that Nghe An province is very happy and excited to welcome the delegation of leaders and managers of the Communist Party of Cuba to visit and work in Nghe An province - the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader and great friend of the Cuban people.

Over the past 65 years, the solidarity and brotherhood between Vietnam and Cuba, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro, has been increasingly promoted and developed. Through the ups and downs of history, Vietnam and Cuba have always stood side by side, supporting and helping each other in the most difficult times.

"These are evidences of the special brotherly friendship between two nations half a world apart. Today, the Party, State and people of the two countries always attach importance to the traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba and continue to nurture and develop it well in all fields," affirmed the Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung also said that the delegation's working trip to Nghe An province is a testament to Cuba's deep affection for Nghe An province in particular and affirms the continued cultivation of the special friendship between the two countries in general, towards the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).

The working trip also opened up many new cooperation opportunities between Nghe An province and Sancti Spiritus Provincial Party Committee in many fields: Agriculture, Health, Education, Science and Technology... and it is hoped that, through this visit, the two sides will enhance understanding, share experiences, connect and develop the relationship between the two provinces.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh informed and discussed with the delegation the socio-economic development situation; investment attraction; tourism management and development of Nghe An province and key tasks and solutions in the coming time.

In 2024, the province's GRDP growth rate will reach 9.01%; GRDP scale will reach 216,934 billion VND, ranking 10th in the country. In the first quarter of 2025, the province's GRDP growth rate will reach 8%, ranking 27th in the country; budget revenue will reach 6,311 billion VND.

Nghe An province has 275 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 102 communes meet advanced new rural standards, 16 communes meet model new rural standards; 11 district-level units have completed the task of building new rural areas.

Since the beginning of the term, the province's investment attraction has increased sharply in terms of scale, quantity and quality of projects, of which FDI attraction is a highlight. In the past 3 years (2022-2024), Nghe An has continuously ranked in the top 10 localities attracting the largest investment in the country. To date, the province has 153 FDI projects with a total registered capital of nearly 6 billion USD in effect from investors from 14 countries and territories.

Nghe An has rich tourism potential with a harmonious combination of nature, culture, history and people. In the period 2022-2025, the tourism growth rate is estimated at 27.1%. In 2025, Nghe An province is expected to welcome 9.6 million visitors, an increase of 6 million compared to 2020.

Strengthening connection, sharing and cooperation between the two provinces

At the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung further introduced to the delegation the position and role of Nghe An province in the region as well as the whole country; the development orientation of the province is determined in Resolution No. 39 of the Politburo and the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; development goals and important tasks and solutions that Nghe An province is implementing.

The Provincial Party Secretary also shared three lessons learned to help the province achieve results in recent times, which are: Building solidarity, unity, and consensus within the Party, Government, People, and the whole society - the most important factor.

In the context of limited resources, the province has identified key tasks, areas, and projects to focus on directing and implementing. The province has proactively proposed, persistently followed, and recommended to the Central Government to issue mechanisms and policies to create motivation and resources for development.

Nghe An province also discussed and shared with the delegation the contents of the new rural construction program; developing economic sectors to help Nghe An province achieve the growth target of 10.5% by 2025; lessons learned after many years of innovation; policy communication; tasks that the Provincial Party Committee has deployed to achieve the goals set by the Politburo for Nghe An.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Deivy Pérez Martin - Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Sancti Spíritus Provincial Party Committee, and Cuban National Assembly delegate expressed his honor to visit President Ho Chi Minh's hometown, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday and on the occasion of commemorating major events of Vietnam.

Affirming the good and loyal relationship between the two countries and peoples, Comrade Deivy Pérez Martin emphasized that 2025 is a year of great significance for the two parties; jointly organizing a theoretical seminar between the two parties; inaugurating the Ho Chi Minh subject at the University of Havana.

First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Sancti Spíritus Deivy Pérez Martin acknowledged the achievements of Vietnam in general and Nghe An province in particular in recent times.

First Secretary of the Sancti Spíritus Provincial Party Committee Deivy Pérez Martin also sincerely thanked Nghe An province for sharing valuable lessons and practical experiences, thereby helping Sancti Spíritus province contribute to the Government's action program to overcome limitations and promote economic development.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party, State and People of Cuba, First Secretary of the Sancti Spíritus Provincial Party Committee Deivy Pérez Martin expressed his gratitude to the country, people of Vietnam and the brotherly province of Nghe An for always being united, supporting, helping and backing Cuba over the past time; at the same time, agreed to promote the twinning agreement between Nghe An province and Sancti Spíritus province in the coming time.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung affirmed that, despite the most difficult period and the current period of national construction and development, Vietnam always attaches importance to the special cooperative and friendly relationship with Cuba and continues to be nurtured by the two Parties, two States and peoples to become better and better.

The Provincial Party Secretary suggested that in the coming time, the two provinces will continue to exchange and share more lessons learned and results of implementing local development tasks, contributing to the development of each country.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung also hopes to have connection and cooperation activities between the two localities and between the business communities of the two sides to carry out cooperation in areas where the two provinces have advantages and development conditions.
