Number of passengers at Vinh airport in the first 6 months of 2022 exceeded the whole year of 2021

Reported and actual data show that domestic flights have had a strong breakthrough in the first 6 months of 2022. The number of flights, passengers and cargo volume all grew strongly compared to the same period in 2021.

Specifically, data fromVinh International Airportsaid that in the first 6 months of 2022, it received 8,324 aircraft takeoffs and landings with a total number of passengers reaching nearly 1.3 million people. Not only passenger transport, the total volume of goods and parcels in the first 6 months of the year via air also reached over 2.7 million tons.

In June 2022 alone, the peak hot month along with the high demand for tourism of the people caused the demand for air travel to reach impressive numbers, with 1,510 aircraft taking off and landing at Vinh airport, the number of passengers reached 285 thousand people (highest compared to previous months), the amount of goods and parcels also reached 408 thousand tons.

It can be seen that the aviation industry is showing signs of strong recovery since the Covid-19 epidemic was controlled. Going back to 1 year ago, the strong outbreak paralyzed the transportation industry, and aviation was no exception. In the whole year of 2021, Vinh International Airport only welcomed 8,925 aircraft landings and takeoffs, the number of passengers only reached over 1.1 million people and the amount of cargo only reached 4.1 tons.

A representative of Vinh International Airport said: The reason for the strong recovery of air transport is that the Covid-19 epidemic has been controlled nationwide, and people's travel needs have increased, especially during the tourist season.

Especially on weekends, at the check-in counters of airlines, people line up to check in for flights mainly to Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City...

It is expected that in the coming time, air transport will continue to have positive developments. This is a good sign, not only convenient for passengers but also helps management units and airlines to compensate for some of the losses over the past 2 years.

Not only in Nghe An, but also in the whole country, air transport recorded record growth in the first 6 months of the year. Data from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam shows that in the first half of this year, the number of passengers passing through airports reached 40.7 million, an increase of 56.8% over the same period in 2021. Of which, international visitors reached 1.8 million, domestic visitors reached 38.9 million, an impressive increase of 52.6%.
