In Chau Nhan commune (Hung Nguyen), there is an ancient house that used to be a place to hide revolutionary cadres during the resistance years. The owner of that house is Mr. Hoang Vien - one of the first party members of Chau Nhan commune.

Relics on Nhon Mountain

The relic of Mr. Hoang Vien's house was once the meeting place of the Central Region Party Committee during the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement (1930 - 1931). During the period of democratic struggle (1936 - 1939) and launching the general uprising to seize power (1945), the house became the "base" of the Party to lead the revolutionary movement.

According to documents kept by the descendants of the Hoang family in Hung Chau and the local government, Mr. Hoang Vien was a diligent, hard-working and industrious farmer. He was also a progressive thinker, actively involved in social activities and had a wide network of friends. In July 1930, when the revolutionary movement under the leadership of the Party developed strongly, at Mr. Hoang Vien's private home, the Phuc My Party Cell (now Hung Chau Commune) was established, consisting of 3 comrades: Nguyen Ngo Dat (Provisional Secretary), Le Vien and Nguyen Thuyen.

Later, the Party cell admitted 4 more comrades: Hoang Vien, Hoang Em, Hoang Xi and Nguyen Hua. Under the direct leadership of comrade Le Xuan Dao - Secretary of Hung Nguyen Party Committee, Phuc My Party cell grew stronger and stronger, the revolutionary movement spread more and more and took root in people's lives. That was the reason why the Central Region Party Committee chose Phuc My village as a base of operations, especially from September 1930 - the time when the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement reached its peak.

Behind the village is Nhon Mountain, where comrades participating in the activities can easily retreat when being hunted by the enemy. The Regional Party Committee decided to choose Mr. Hoang Vien's house as a place for meetings, work and hiding cadres. Behind Mr. Hoang Vien's house are two underground bunkers to hide documents, and at the same time, a place to hide and escape if being hunted by the enemy.

The house of Mr. Hoang Vien’s family was chosen as the “base” of the revolutionary movement, and the surrounding families were also chosen as places to operate to serve the struggle. Those were the houses of Mr. Hoang Tuon, Mr. Hoang Em, and Mr. Hoang Xi, which were places to hide cadres and organize the printing of all kinds of documents, leaflets, and propaganda newspapers. The revolutionary base in Phuc My was regularly protected by the local Red Guards, and the person directly guarding it was Mr. Hoang Nhi (Mr. Hoang Vien’s son).

As the headquarters of the "brain", the revolutionary movement in Phuc My developed strongly, the masses actively participated in revolutionary organizations such as: Red Self-Defense, Red Peasant Association, Red Relief. The revolutionary spirit spread more and more, becoming an example for other localities in the region to follow. The great mark of the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement was determined on September 12, 1930, when tens of thousands of Hung Nguyen farmers and Ben Thuy workers united into a strong wave of struggle, making the enemy confused and terrified. And here, in December 1930, the Soviet government was born, bringing many benefits to the working people.

Pride

Local history and records of the Hoang family also recorded that in 1939, during the democratic struggle movement, comrades Tran Quy, Bui San, Chu Huy Man, and Tran Van Quang returned to Phuc My to find ways to build the movement. Once again, the Central Region Party Committee decided to re-establish a revolutionary base here. At the end of 1940, comrade Muoi Cuc (ie Nguyen Van Linh) was sent here to work and chose Mr. Hoang Vien's house as a place to stay and organize meetings, discussing important issues.

Also at this house, nearly 5 years later, on August 8, 1945, the inter-provincial Viet Minh held a conference to disseminate the situation and discuss the plan for a general uprising to seize power for the revolution. Then, a few weeks later, together with people from all over the country, the people of Nghe An rose up to seize power, contributing to the "earth-shaking" revolution.

In 1991, the State recognized Mr. Hoang Vien's house as a National Historical Relic. Chau Son village (belonging to Phuc My village) was awarded a Certificate of Merit for "upholding the spirit of patriotism, actively fighting against imperialism, and contributing to the victory of the August Revolution"; 11 families in the village were also awarded a Certificate of Merit for their service to the country, and 4 other families were awarded a Commemorative Medal.

In the relic of Mr. Hoang Vien's house, there are currently some artifacts related to the hiding of cadres during the years of revolutionary struggle, when our Party was still operating secretly. These are hammer and sickle flags made of wood; a stamped seal; a bronze pot, trays, bowls, and plates used by Party leaders. Besides, there are some documentary photos, certificates and other artifacts. In particular, we found two newspapers "Lao Kho" (No. 13) and "Tien Len" (No. 13) which were handwritten and kept quite carefully.

The newspaper “Lao Kho” had a solemn article: “Workers and farmers throughout the country rushed before the imperialists and shouted: Don’t touch the workers and farmers of Nghe Tinh.” As for the newspaper “Tien Len”, in the upper right corner there was a hammer and sickle drawing, next to it was the headline: “Commemorating the Nghe An Soviet”, at the bottom was the line “September 10, 1931”.

Today, the Hoang Vien House Relic has been firmly restored and is a place of sightseeing and study for local officials, party members and students.
