Prime Minister witnesses opening of Can Tho - Vinh flight route
Can Tho – Vinh round-trip flights operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Departing from Can Tho at 11:35, the return flight takes off from Vinh at 14:00, each flight takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
On the morning of April 6, in Can Tho City, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the opening ceremony of five new flight routes to and from Can Tho International Airport of VietJet Air.
Also attending were Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Truong Thi Mai.

These 5 new routes are operated by Vietjet round-trip, including: Can Tho - Hai Phong is operated round-trip daily with a frequency of 1 flight/day. Departing from Can Tho at 6:15 am, the return flight takes off from Hai Phong at 8:55 am, each flight takes 1 hour and 55 minutes.
The second is the Can Tho - Vinh (Nghe An) route, which opens on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with a frequency of 1 flight/day. Departing from Can Tho at 11:35, the return flight takes off from Vinh at 14:00, each flight takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
The Can Tho - Thanh Hoa route opens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with a frequency of 1 flight/day. Departing from Can Tho at 11:30, the return flight takes off from Thanh Hoa at 14:00, the flight time for each flight is 1 hour and 55 minutes.
The Can Tho - Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) route is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a frequency of 1 flight/day. Departing from Nha Trang at 9:30 am, the return flight takes off from Can Tho at 11:05 am, each flight takes about 1 hour.
The remaining route is Can Tho - Da Lat (Lam Dong) which opens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with a frequency of 1 flight/day. Departing from Can Tho at 11:35, the opposite direction takes off from Da Lat at 12:55, each flight takes about 45 minutes.
Can Tho Airport was put into operation in 2011 with modern facilities and a capacity of 3-5 million passengers per year; but to date, it has only operated at less than half of its capacity. In 2018, 815,000 passengers arrived at Can Tho Airport; although it increased by 20% compared to 2017, it still only reached about 40% of its designed capacity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized the potential of the Mekong Delta region with its advantages in terms of people, population, etc. The Prime Minister also highly appreciated the development of Vietjet in recent years, and called on businesses to always accompany the overall development of the country.
The Prime Minister directed the Mekong Delta region to continue developing and perfecting the road, waterway, and railway transport systems, etc. In particular, special attention should be paid to aviation, which accounts for 80% of visitors to Vietnam each year. This is also the basis for developing sustainable and effective tourism.
The Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with relevant units to quickly improve the quality of airports, expand infrastructure, meet urgent travel needs, and reduce overload.
Currently, the service problem in the Mekong Delta is still weak, it is necessary to research, develop, plan, effective models to attract tourists to the region, where the issue of aviation safety and service quality is paramount./.
