(Baonghean.vn) - It is forecasted that from October 9-12, in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai, there may be heavy rain, with rainfall in some places reaching over 350mm; in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

On the afternoon of October 7, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense issued Official Dispatch No. 213/CV-PCTT, directing proactive response to heavy rain with whirlwinds, lightning, hail, cold and strong winds at sea.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of cold air, from October 9-12, 2022, the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai may experience heavy rain with common rainfall from 150 - 250mm, some places over 350mm; in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

In addition, from October 9, in the Gulf of Tonkin and the North East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago), the Northeast wind will gradually increase to level 7, gusting to level 9.

To proactively respond to heavy rain with tornadoes, lightning, hail, cold and strong winds at sea, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of districts, cities, towns and relevant agencies and units to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts of natural disasters and weather to promptly and regularly notify and guide authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent heavy rain with tornadoes, lightning, hail, cold and strong gusts of wind that may occur.

At the same time, continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 25/CD-UBND dated September 30, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on focusing on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 4 and proactively responding to natural disasters in the coming time; focus on supporting people to repair houses and clean up the environment; put up warning signs in dangerous areas; fix landslides and burial sites on blocked traffic routes.

Localities and units organize inspections and reviews of areas at risk of flash floods and landslides, vehicles operating on rivers, and households living along rivers and streams; at the same time, prepare response plans to ensure the safety of people's lives and property when situations arise.

Along with that, organize forces to guard and guide people and vehicles through culverts, spillways, flooded traffic areas, ferry piers and ferry terminals to ensure safety.

In particular, prepare plans to proactively respond to situations, especially arranging shock forces, materials, and vehicles on site, and deploying measures to ensure people's safety.

Provide information and propaganda to guide people on disaster prevention and control skills (including cold prevention and control) on all means of transport so that all people, especially those in mountainous areas, can proactively prevent and control.

Particularly for coastal districts and towns: Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds and big waves at sea; promptly notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, as well as plans to ensure safety for people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
