Hot pursuit of robber using fake license plate to snatch gold necklace in Vinh City

On February 17, 2020, Vinh City Police said that the City Police Investigation Agency had justprosecuted and ordered the temporary detention of Nguyen Huu Long (born 1981), residing in block 6, Quan Bau ward, Vinh city, to continue investigating and expanding the case of "Robbery" caused by Long.

Previously, late on January 20, 2020, Vinh City Police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred on Phuong Hoang Street. The victim was Ms. Ho Thi B. (born in 1975), residing in Hamlet 6, Hung Loi Commune, Hung Nguyen District. According to the report: On the same evening, Ms. B. drove a motorbike from Vinh City back home. At about 8:15 p.m. the same day, when Ms. B. was traveling on Phuong Hoang Street from Vinh University intersection to Hung Loi Commune, Hung Nguyen District, to the intersection with Ngo Thi Nham Street in Trung Do Ward, Vinh City, a young man suddenly drove up from behind, approached Ms. B. on the left side, snatched the necklace she was wearing around her neck, and quickly escaped.

After receiving the report, the City Police Criminal Police Team quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the hot trail and discovered an abandoned motorbike in a field in Hung Loi commune. Through verification, it was discovered that the motorbike had a fake license plate. In order to promptly prevent the subject from escaping and continuing to commit crimes, Project 129G was established to concentrate forces to capture the subject.

After 2 days and nights of urgent investigation, the Task Force identified the suspect who caused the above robbery as Nguyen Huu Long (born in 1981), residing in Block 6, Quan Bau Ward, Vinh City. This subject had 3 previous convictions for the crimes of: Robbery, illegal possession of narcotics and illegal drug trafficking. After determining Long's hiding place, the Task Force skillfully persuaded the subject to surrender. Knowing that he could not escape, on January 22, Nguyen Huu Long went to the Vinh City Police Department to surrender, and at the same time handed over all the evidence of the case including: 1 Suzuki Viva motorbike, black, license plate 37K9-3485, 2 fake license plates, 1 roll of double-sided tape and 1 gold necklace with a square gold pendant, which was the property that Long snatched from Ms. Ho Thi B.

At the investigation agency, suspect Long confessed: On the evening of January 20, he drove a black Suzuki Viva motorbike with license plate 37K9-3485 on the streets of Vinh City, looking for people who were not paying attention to snatch their property. When he arrived at the area in front of Vinh University, he discovered Ms. B. driving a motorbike in the same direction ahead, wearing a gold necklace around her neck. Seeing this, Long followed her. When he reached Phuong Hoang Street, Long turned into a small alley, used double-sided tape to stick a fake license plate 38N1-033.03 over the real license plate, and continued to follow Ms. B.

At about 20:15 on the same day, when Ms. B. reached the intersection with Ngo Thi Nham Street in Trung Do Ward, Vinh City, Long drove his motorbike up close and snatched the necklace Ms. B. was wearing around her neck and ran away towards Hung Loi Commune. When they reached Hamlet 6, Hung Loi Commune, because they were being chased by people, Long abandoned his motorbike and ran away to escape...

Consolidating records and documents, the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency has decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an order to detain Nguyen Huu Long to continue investigating and expanding the case.
