Viettel promptly covered 4G signal where male student built a study hut in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Since April 16, 2020, Quang The Ha in Cuom village, Dien Lam commune, Quy Chau district, Nghe An no longer has to wake up early to climb up to the shack perched on a hill near his house to study online like in the past month because his home area has just been covered by Viettel 4G.
Less than 3 days to cover 4G Viettel in Cuom village
Quang The Ha, a 10th grader at Viet Bac High School (Thai Nguyen), has been home for the Lunar New Year holiday. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ha has not been able to return to school. Ha's home area only has 2G signal, so in the past, he often had to climb up a hillside 450m from his home, where there was 3G signal, to receive and send homework to his teachers.
More than a week ago, the school announced the online class schedule, Ha built a small hut right on the hillside to study with her friends every morning. The story about her spirit of "temporarily stopping going to school - not stopping studying" has been shared by many newspapers in recent days.

Although the installation and coverage of 4G in mountainous areas without electricity is always a difficult problem for network operators. However, as soon as they learned about the difficult study of student Quang The Ha due to the lack of internet, in less than 3 days, Viettel Nghe An quickly deployed 4G in the area; realizing the goal of "leaving no one behind" during the epidemic season.
Immediately after receiving information about Ha's case, Viettel Nghe An quickly surveyed the area to deploy the installation and broadcasting of 4G. However, Cuom village is a mountainous area, nearly 40 km from the center of Quy Chau district. The area where Ha's family lives has complex terrain, nestled in the mountains and forests, like a valley, and has no electricity grid, making it very difficult to operate. All network operators here do not have 3G/4G signals.
In mid-2018, Viettel launched a 2G station in this area to ensure communication for the people. The station is located on a high hill and requires a 30-minute climb, and the road to the station is steep. The 2G network in Cuom village is connected through a relay station and requires the use of a generator 24/7, which is very expensive.
After assessing the feasibility, Viettel Nghe An coordinated with Viettel Net KV1 Technical Center to agree on a 4G broadcasting plan for Cuom village. Immediately, Viettel's technical team quickly transferred and installed processing equipment supporting both 2G and 4G at the station. At the same time, the VTNet radio team was responsible for declaring scenarios, parameters, system impacts, and integrating 4G broadcasting on the remote NAN0689 station.

Although the journey is long and the terrain is difficult, to transport the equipment, it is necessary to manually carry it by road, climb high hills, but with the effort to cover 4G, bring knowledge and information to people in remote areas, so that "no one is left behind" when the epidemic is complicated, by 11:30 a.m. on April 15, Viettel Nghe An has completed 4G coverage in Cuom village, with guaranteed quality.
The joy of the small village people
Viettel Nghe An also gave Ha a 4G sim card with a data package to support her to continue her online learning time right in her Cuom village.“The first lesson using Viettel's 4G signal went very smoothly, thanks to the fast and stable network speed. From now on, studying at home will be much more convenient, without having to travel as tiringly as before and without interruption, so I can ensure my study program like my friends during this epidemic season. Studying at home, I can also help my parents with housework.”- Ha shared.

Mr. Quang Van Kien - Head of the Front Work Committee of Ban Cuom said:“Coom village currently has more than 160 households, of which about 45 are in middle and high school. For high school students, the need to study online is very necessary. However, in the past, all network operators in this area only had 2G signals. Therefore, to maintain their studies, students had to find places with 3G/4G signals to access the internet. Viettel's deployment of 4G broadcasting has helped the children of Coom village conveniently study online. At the same time, people also have access to the internet, thereby promptly updating news of the state and society, especially news about the epidemic.”.
Although the 4G coverage in mountainous areas without electricity is new, Viettel Nghe An will ensure long-term broadcasting to serve this area, while also monitoring to supplement solutions to ensure the station has good network quality and maintain good station operation to serve people's lives.
