(Baonghean.vn) - After receiving information about a tropical depression and storm No. 3 forming in the East Sea, the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Committee of Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town called on all fishing boats at sea to quickly return to shelter.

Low pressure area likely to strengthen into tropical depression
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during July 12-13, the tropical convergence zone will continue to be active, the low pressure area is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression, moving towards the Gulf of Tonkin.
As soon as the provincial People's Committee issued an urgent dispatch on the prevention of tropical depression and storm No. 3 affecting the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Committee of Quynh Luu district coordinated with the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to urgently call on ships to return to the wharf to avoid the storm.

Coastal communes such as Tien Thuy, Quynh Nghia, Quynh Long, Son Hai... with vessels operating at sea are all contacted via walkie-talkie so that fishermen can quickly return to shore.
As a locality with a total of 360 large boats, including 162 offshore fishing boats, immediately after receiving an official dispatch calling for boats to anchor, Tien Thuy commune promptly notified fishermen at sea to return to the port to avoid the storm. By the morning of July 17, all boats had returned safely to take shelter from the storm; of which 60 boats anchored in Quang Binh province and 2 in Quang Tri, the rest anchored at Lach Quen port.
By this morning (July 17), the entire Quynh Luu district had 1,275 vessels and boats safely anchored, including 20 vessels anchored in Quang Binh, 7 vessels in Bach Long Vi - Quang Ninh and 2 in Quang Tri. After taking shelter from the storm, the localities directed fishermen to tie down their boats to avoid collisions when there are big waves and strong winds; at the same time, fishermen living near the sea need to proactively prepare plans to evacuate people and tie down their houses before the storm makes landfall.
Mr. Bui Xuan Truc - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said that the tropical depression causing heavy rain, strong winds and storm No. 3 is forming and is forecast to make landfall in the Central provinces, including Quynh Luu district. The district has prepared well plans to deal with the storm; all fishing boats have returned to take shelter from the storm safely. For mountainous communes, the localities are required to monitor areas prone to landslides and have plans to evacuate households in affected areas to ensure absolute safety for the people.
In Hoang Mai town,As of the afternoon of July 16, more than 900 fishing boats of Hoang Mai fishermen had safely anchored at Lach Con wharf, including many boats anchored in neighboring provinces.
Localities are actively directing propaganda to fishermen not to go out to sea to fish and to proactively protect assets on board when a storm hits.
