Con Cuong opens the biggest market ever
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 30, in Mon Son commune (Con Cuong), the opening ceremony of the first Muong Qua - Con Cuong market in 2019 took place. This is an activity to promote and introduce the products of the people in this mountainous district, and at the same time restore the market - a cultural activity of the Thai people that has existed for a long time.

The event was organized by the People's Committee of Con Cuong district with the participation of business households in Mon Son commune and about 1,000 tourists from all over.

The first Muong Qua market gathered 40 booths from businesses and communes across the district. In addition to popular goods, the market also introduced many local products such as brocade and traditional musical instruments of the Thai people. Notably, there was also a booth of the Dan Lai ethnic minority community with woven products and agricultural products grown in the upper reaches of the Giang River.

The most prominent part of the market is the space of culinary products, goods serving Tet such as dong leaves, banh chung wrapping strips, beef, pork, Yen Khe oranges... In addition, there are also Thai dishes such as mooc, pickled cabbage in bamboo tubes...
Previously, many villages in Con Cuong had the custom of going to the Tet market on the 25th of December. The reopening of the market contributes to reviving a cultural activity of the Thai community in this mountainous district. The market is expected to be held on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month. The restoration of the market also aims to develop tourism in the area and contribute to preserving the indigenous cultural identity.
