Nearly 40 hectares of corn in Do Luong fell down after heavy rain and wind
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 4, a heavy thunderstorm with strong winds lasting from 7am to 9am caused nearly 40 hectares of corn in Thuan Son commune, Do Luong to fall.

The area of fallen corn is mainly located on the alluvial land along Lam River from hamlet 1 to hamlet 4.
The corn area that fell was planted in early February 2020 and is currently in the ear-forming stage. In the beach area, out of the 40 hectares that fell, more than half of the corn plants were broken in the middle and could not be repaired. Currently, farmers in the beach area in Thuan Son can only harvest the broken corn plants to feed their livestock.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Officer in charge of agriculture in Thuan Son commune - Do Luong said that this corn crop, Thuan Son commune planted 83 hectares of corn, mainly CP 8989 and CP 511 corn varieties, expected to be harvested by the end of May, with an average yield of 3 quintals of corn per sao, worth approximately 1.8 million VND.
