(Baonghean.vn) - According to information from Vinh International Airport, during the Lunar New Year, the number of passengers traveling through Vinh airport, especially from Ho Chi Minh City, doubled compared to normal.

Specifically, from January 8, 2023, the 17th of December, the number of takeoffs and landings of aircraft began to increase. If on a normal day there were only 25 to 30 flights, equivalent to 50-60 takeoffs and landings at Vinh International Airport, then in the past 10 days, the number of flights has doubled, equivalent to 100-110 takeoffs and landings, of which the airlineVietnam Airlinesaccounting for the majority with an average of 40-46 takeoffs and landings, followed by VietJet, Bamboo...

Mr. Hoang Van Thu - DirectorVinh International Airportsaid: Compared to previous years, this year due to the long Tet holiday, the number of returning passengers is high but evenly distributed and does not cause congestion like previous years. Among the passengers passing through the airport, return passengers continue to account for the majority with about 18,000 passengers/day, while the departure passengers are from 7,000 to 8,000 passengers/day. To better serve the travel needs of passengers during Tet, the Port has arranged human resources and vehicles, ensuring security, safety and order; at the same time, reopened 2 routes Vinh-Da Nang and Vinh-Pleiku (Gia Lai) to serve passengers.

In 2022, Vinh International Airport will welcome 2.65 million passengers, an increase of 80% compared to 2020 and 2021 and an increase of 30% compared to 2019 - the time before the Covid-19 outbreak. After trade and travel activities return to normal, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is planning to expand and upgrade to strive to reach 3 million passengers in 2023 and 4 million in 2025; at the same time, gradually restore the volume of goods transported through the port that has decreased due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

It is known that Vinh International Airport currently has 5 airlines using take-off and landing services: Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Bamboo and VietJet Air. Vinh International Airport currently operates 9 flight routes including: Vinh- Can Tho, Vinh- Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Vinh- Noi Bai (Hanoi), Vinh- Lien Khuong (Da Lat), Vinh- Buon Me Thuot (Dak Lak), Vinh- Nha Trang, Vinh- Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), Vinh- Da Nang, Vinh- Pleiku.
