Hung Hoa Commune - one of the localities with the largest rice area in Vinh city with 200 hectares but currently has up to 90% of the area flooded. It is worth mentioning that this is the time when the rice is about to be harvested but if it is left flooded for too long, the risk of total loss is very high.
Mr. Duong Xuan Tham - Agricultural officer of Hung Hoa commune said: The locality is in a "dilemma", although rice and crops are heavily flooded, it cannot be drained because the water level in the Lam River is higher than in the fields. If the drainage sluices are opened, not only will they not be able to drain, but water from outside will flood in, causing more severe flooding.

The biggest concern for the locality now is that the water from upstream after the hydroelectric dam floods is about to pour in, the flood level will remain if it continues to rain. Currently, communes with high risk of flooding such as Hung Trung, Hung Nhan, Hung Lam... have been warned early to proactively deal with sudden water rise.
