Nghe An: 20 tons of PQ tangerines sold on the first day of 'rescue'
(Baonghean.vn) - After only 1 day of "rescue", organizations and unions helped Nghia Dan people consume nearly 20 tons of PQ tangerines in localities across the province.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An - Secretary of the Commune Youth UnionNghia Mai(Nghia Dan) said: The campaign to "rescue" the specialty PQ tangerine was organized by the youth union members in the commune in coordination with Nghe An Provincial Youth Union with the desire to help farmers. After the first day of rescue, by the morning of March 12, nearly 20 tons of tangerines had been consumed.
"It is expected that during this period, the program will support people in harvesting, transporting and purchasing about 150-200 tons of PQ tangerines. The amount of tangerines consumed will increase in the coming time because the number of units contacting for rescue is still increasing..." - Ms. An added.

Currently, all the tangerines have been transported to the Youth Development Support Center of Nghe An province (Vinh city) and in the town.Cua Loso that people can join hands to buy for the people.
Mr. Nguyen Canh Anh - Secretary of the Ward Youth UnionThu Thuy(Cua Lo Town) said: "After learning that Nghia Dan PQ tangerines needed to be rescued, Thu Thuy Ward and Nghi Thu Ward met and decided to coordinate together to rescue tangerines for the people. On March 11, we purchased 5 tons and today, March 12, we plan to continue rescuing 3 more tons, contributing a small part of our efforts to share with the people...".

Through discussion, Mr. Lam Van Thang - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghia Dan district said: In the district, there are 400 hectares of PQ tangerines for harvest, but due to the impact of Covid-19, the tangerines cannot be consumed. After Nghe An Newspaper reported, on March 11 and 12, many organizations and units, especially the youth union members, did not hesitate to help people harvest and consume tangerines, so we are very grateful.

However, the rescue is only a temporary solution at this time. In the long term, we will research and plan tangerine growing areas, improve the quality of varieties and at the same time strengthen connections to be able to contact units and businesses to purchase products for people.
