In Chau Nhan commune, after the flood receded, the road to the old Hung Nhan commune was bustling with people coming and going. Before that, the authorities had to use tractors to transport people because vehicles could not pass through.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chau Nhan commune said: This year the flood level is not as high as the flood peak in 2020, however the water recedes very slowly, especially in hamlets 7, 8, 9, with more than 900 households isolated for many days. Fortunately, in the past few days, there has been little rain so the water level has gradually receded, not rising, and by this morning, October 6, it has completely receded, people are excited...

On the morning of October 6, after the flood receded, people in Chau Nhan commune gathered to clean up, wipe down flooded properties, and dry wet food and utensils. Functional forces such as militia, police, youth union... were all present to support people in cleaning up and stabilizing their lives after the flood.
Mr. Phan Dinh Hoan - Vice Chairman of Chau Nhan Commune People's Committee said: This is a long-term flood, so it has greatly affected the lives and activities of the people. Fortunately, during the days of deep flooding, people strictly followed the regulations and did not go out but gathered on the islets to save themselves and the huts, so there were no casualties. Households facing difficulties after the flood were promptly supported by organizations and unions. After the flood, the commune directed the forces to continue clearing drainage ditches and upgrading dykes because it is forecasted that there will still be rain in the coming time, and the risk of flooding is still latent.

On the Ta Lam dike on the morning of October 6, people gathered to bring their belongings such as cars, motorbikes, and cows home after the water receded. Dozens of buffalo herds were on their way home after having to stay temporarily on the dike for many days.
Mr. Le Minh Tung, Hung Loi commune said: My family has 3 buffaloes. Because the barn is low, every year during the flood season, we have to bring the buffaloes and cows up to the dike to avoid the flood. Every day, we have to wade through the water and row the boat home to get straw to bring to the dike for the buffaloes and cows to eat for the whole week. The biggest concern now is that the buffaloes and cows are on the dike day and night for many days, so they are very susceptible to disease and have reduced resistance. Therefore, when we bring them back, we have to focus on taking care of them and feeding them.

Mr. Phan Huu Dao - Chairman of Hung Loi Commune People's Committee said: By the morning of October 6, the water in hamlets 1 and 2, the most flooded areas in the area, had basically receded. We recommend that people focus on bringing their belongings home and clean up the Ta Lam dike because livestock staying on the dike for many days has also polluted the dike. Temporary pens built on the dike are also required to be dismantled to restore the site to its original state, without violating the Law on Dikes.
Although the lives of people in the flood-hit area of Hung Nguyen have basically returned to normal after many days of living with the flood. However, after the water receded, a huge amount of waste flooded the roads and dykes, causing serious pollution. Therefore, cleaning and collecting waste needs to be done continuously to ensure the environment for people after the flood.
It is known that because Hung Nguyen is the downstream area of Lam River, garbage is not only local but mainly from the upper districts following the flood. According to records, garbage, tree trunks, packaging of all kinds... are piled up on the roads but have not been handled promptly.

Discussing this issue, a representative of Hung Nguyen Green Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company said: After the flood, the amount of waste in the district is estimated to increase 3-4 times compared to normal days, because the waste is not only from the locality but also from other areas, combined with the fact that people are concentrating on cleaning up after the flood, so the amount of waste is overloaded. Currently, we have also mobilized 100% of vehicles and machinery to focus on collecting waste in localities, prioritizing areas with long-term flooding to ensure people's lives after the flood.
