Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the agricultural production situation
On the morning of July 25, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the landslide situation near the residential area in Do Luong district. He was accompanied by Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Proactively guard against the risk of landslides
In Quang Son commune, Do Luong district, since 2020, a long crack has appeared on Tho Bui mountain, posing many dangers to 13 households with nearly 60 people living at the foot of the mountain. In recent years, the commune has had to evacuate people to safety many times during the rainy season.

The locality has also had a plan to organize a bidding for the exploitation of soil and rock at this mountain, in order to reduce the height of the mountain to reduce the impact and risk of subsidence, but so far no organization or individual has accepted the contract. And before this year's rainy and stormy season, the risk of insecurity for households living at the foot of the mountain is very high.

After the field inspection, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De directed: Localities must warn households early and regularly about the risk of landslides so that they can proactively take precautions; at the same time, fully prepare necessary conditions, propagate and mobilize, help and evacuate people to safe places when there is prolonged rain and risk of landslides. "The functional forces must organize 24/24h duty to be able to promptly handle situations that occur, support to ensure the safety of people's lives and property", the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized.
While the plan to relocate people to new resettlement areas has not been implemented due to a number of reasons, ensuring people's safety is a top priority.

Focus on pest control and timely drainage for summer-autumn rice
Comrade Nguyen Van De and the working delegation also inspected summer-autumn production in Hung Nguyen and Dien Chau districts. Up to now, more than 4,300 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Hung Nguyen district have grown well. Some pests and diseases have appeared in the fields, but they have been promptly prevented and contained in a small area.

Of the 6,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Dien Chau district, more than 3,000 hectares of early rice have entered the milky and waxy stages, and will be ready for harvest in about 10 days. The late rice fields are also growing well, some are in the flowering stage.

After the inspection, comrade Nguyen Van De requested units and localities to focus on monitoring the growth and development, developments of pests and diseases, and natural disasters such as storms and floods to have timely and proactive measures in prevention and control work.

On rice fields that have begun to form panicles, continue to monitor for stem borers and planthoppers; on rice fields that have begun to emerge, pay attention to preventing spider mites and grain smut. In particular, on all rice fields, pay attention to the development of brown spot disease to have timely and effective prevention measures, because this is a disease that can cause a lot of damage when rice plants fall down during heavy rains and winds. Focus on drainage when heavy rains last long to ensure the safety of the province's summer-autumn rice crop.
