(Baonghean.vn) - After recent heavy rains and floods, a number of nationally ranked relics in the flood-prone areas of Hung Nguyen and Nam Dan districts have been severely degraded and damaged and need to be restored and repaired.

Located in the flood-prone area of Hung Nguyen, outside the Ta Lam dike, the national historical, cultural and architectural relic complex of Ram Temple in Chau Nhan Commune (Hung Nguyen) including Ram Temple in the inner and Ram Temple in the outer were both severely flooded during the flood in early October. However, Ram Temple in the outer was more damaged. Photo: Huy Thu

The lower hall of Ram Temple was damaged in many places, especially the right side (looking out from the inside) where the wood and the bank were broken. Mr. Pham Ngoc Thiep (66 years old), a member of the Ram Temple Relic Management Board, said: In the recent flood, the lower hall was submerged more than 1 meter. Due to heavy and prolonged rain, the roof of the lower hall was severely damaged. Photo: Huy Thu

A whole section of the embankment, the handrail and the roof tiles in front of the main hall were broken and fell onto the gable roof. Photo: Huy Thu

Part of the mortar on the roof of the lower power station has fallen to the ground and is lying messy at the foot of the wall, the rest is lying on the gable roof. Photo: Huy Thu

Standing below and looking up, we saw that the roof of the Ram Ngoai temple was damaged in many places, some of the rafters and batten were broken; the tiles were broken and fallen, leaving many "sky-high" gaps on the roof. Photo: Huy Thu

During the recent flood, the National Historical, Cultural and Architectural Relic of Thanh Liet Temple in Xuan Lam Commune (Hung Nguyen), located in the middle of the alluvial land outside Ta Lam dike, was also deeply submerged in water. Photo: Huy Thu

Mr. Doan Trong Khoa (73 years old) - a member of the Thanh Liet Temple Management Board said: "During the flood in early October 2022, the temple was located in the middle of a vast floodwater area and was submerged under more than 1 meter of water". Like the Ram Ngoai Temple, the worshiping hall of Thanh Liet Temple was severely damaged by the flood, especially the tiled roof and walls... Photo: Huy Thu

A corner on the right side, behind the Thanh Liet temple's worship hall, was broken, causing many tiles to fall off, leaving the wooden structure inside exposed to the sun and rain. Photo: Huy Thu

The corners of the worshiping hall are leaking, the tiles are falling off or slipping, overlapping each other, creating holes in the roof. Photo: Huy Thu

The two tiled roofs of the Thanh Liet temple's worship hall have fallen down, leaving the rafters loosely attached to the upper beam, with many places separating from the upper beam, causing the worship hall to leak from the roof, and rainwater to pour down every time there is heavy rain. Although not flooded, the National Historical, Cultural and Architectural Relic of Trung Can communal house in Trung Phuc Cuong commune (Nam Dan) is also severely degraded. The cracks and collapses from last year on the lower temple have not been repaired or overcome, and during the heavy rains at the end of September and the beginning of October, the communal house tiles have fallen and fallen off more, and the corners of the communal house have cracked and split more. Mr. Ho Thanh Binh, the caretaker of Trung Can communal house, informed: "During this rain, I saw 8 leaking spots in the lower part of the communal house. Every time it rains heavily, rainwater flows into the house through the leaks, making the communal house floor wet." After the recent big flood, many national historical, cultural and architectural relics in the lower Lam River were degraded and damaged. We request that authorities, departments and branches at all levels pay attention and promptly fix them. Photo: Huy Thu
