20 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 13, at the hall of Quynh Loc commune (Hoang Mai town), Hoang Mai town People's Court held a mobile trial to try defendant Bui Nhat Ky, residing in hamlet 12, Quynh Thach commune, Quynh Luu district, for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".
According to the indictment, at about 2:00 p.m. on February 19, 2023, Bui Nhat Ky had the intention of using drugs, so he drove a motorbike to Cau Ho area, Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province to ask to buy drugs.
When he got there, Ky met a strange man whose name and address were unknown and gave him 1,000,000 VND to buy drugs. A moment later, another man came and threw a white, blue, and red paper bag on the ground near where Ky was standing and then left.

Knowing that it was drugs, Ky bent down to pick it up, held it in his right hand and drove back to Nghe An. On the way back, while Ky stopped at the Duong Long Loan hotel yard to wait to get money for an acquaintance, the Hoang Mai town police team discovered it and proceeded to make a record of the arrest of the offender in the act, sealing the evidence.
The forensic results concluded that the pink powdery round tablets seized from Bui Nhat Ky were all drugs with a mass of 2.15 grams. At the first instance trial, defendant Bui Nhat Ky confessed to all of his crimes.
Based on the details and developments of the case, the Trial Panel sentenced defendant Bui Nhat Ky to 20 months in prison for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics"./.
