Playing the lottery, defrauding people of selling land and appropriating more than 2.5 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - Nguyen Thi Mai, a retired teacher, has just been prosecuted by Hung Nguyen District Police for fraud and appropriation of more than 2.5 billion VND.
Accordingly, recently, Hung Nguyen District Police received many criminal complaints from people in Hung Yen Bac and Hung Yen Nam communes (Hung Nguyen district), Nghi Loc district, Vinh city about Nguyen Thi Mai residing in Hung Yen Nam commune, Hung Nguyen district, committing acts offraud and appropriation of propertyand abuse of trust to appropriate property with an amount of more than 2.5 billion VND. Mai is a retired teacher.

Through investigation and verification, it was found that since February 2020, Mai and a number of people living in the communes of Hung Yen Nam, Hung Yen Bac (Hung Nguyen district), Nghi Loc district... participated in organizingsavings and loan associationDuring the process of participating, Mai always "fights with the guild" and receives money first.
In July 2020, Mai borrowed 230 million VND from Ms. PTM residing in Hung Yen Bac commune, Hung Nguyen district (who also participated in the "hui" ward). By October 2020, due to investment losses and inability to repay the debt, Mai mortgaged, completed land purchase and sale procedures and made a deposit for more than 4,000 m2The garden land area is owned by Mr. NTL residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city and Mr. LAS residing in Quan Bau ward, Vinh city and received 300 million VND deposit.
Around the beginning of 2021, Mai sold another 4,000m2 piece of land.2 above to his family for 800 million VND; at the same time, he sold the house he owned to a resident in Nghi Loc district for 1.3 billion VND.
With the total amount of 2.1 billion VND earned from selling land and houses, Mai used 1.4 billion VND for personal purposes, paying off debts, interest on loans and paying off ward debts for some people. However, the subject did not pay back the borrowed money, received deposits from Ms. M., Mr. L. and Mr. S.. The remaining amount, Mai used for financial investment and suffered losses.
By May 2021, due to the deadline and the inability to pay the debt to Ms. M., the land deposit to Mr. L., Mr. S. and the debt to the ward (more than 2 billion VND), Mai fled the locality.
Based on the documents and evidence that have been verified and collected, Hung Nguyen District Police determined that: Regarding the amount of 2.1 billion VND obtained from the sale of the house and garden land, Nguyen Thi Mai had enough conditions and ability to pay the debt to Ms. M., the deposit to buy land for Mr. L., Mr. S. and pay the ward fee. However, this subject used the above amount of money for other purposes, appropriated the money and fled.
Currently, Hung Nguyen District Police have initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused and issued an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Thi Mai for the crime of abusing trust to appropriate property to continue investigating, clarifying and handling according to the law./.
