Nghe An: 4 districts have new outbreaks of African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 18, in Nghe An, 4 districts had new outbreaks of African swine fever, including 2 communes in Yen Thanh, 2 communes in Dien Chau, 1 town in Tan Ky and 1 commune in Con Cuong.
Dien Chau has 2 more communes with epidemic
Two new outbreaks occurred in Dien Chau district on June 18: Dien Cat and Dien Minh.

Accordingly, at the livestock household in hamlet 2B, Dien Cat commune, a sow got sick on June 15. On June 18, the Veterinary Department of Region III tested positive for African swine fever.
In Dien Minh commune, the epidemic occurred in 2 households: Thai Van Chu in hamlet 6 and Hoang Thi Niu in hamlet 7. Of which, Mr. Chu's household has 18 pigs, Mrs. Niu's household has 1 sow.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Bon - Head of the Dien Chau District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station said: Immediately after discovering a new outbreak in the district, the District People's Committee directed specialized agencies and local authorities to strictly implement epidemic prevention solutions, in order to control the epidemic on a small scale.
Thus, up to this point, Dien Chau district has had 20 communes recorded with African swine fever.
The 19th commune of Yen Thanh tested positive for the epidemic.
African swine fever has been raging in Yen Thanh district in recent days, causing 19 communes to be infected. Of these, 2 communes tested positive on June 18, namely Dai Thanh and Hung Thanh.

Mr. Tran Van Trung - Chairman of Hung Thanh Commune People's Committee said: The outbreak occurred in the area at Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh's household in Lac Thanh hamlet, with 3 pigs. Previously, on June 16, Mr. Thanh's pigs had 2 sick pigs, the veterinary agency took samples for testing and simultaneously destroyed both pigs. On the afternoon of June 18, the result of the above sick pig sample tested positive for African swine fever, this morning the commune destroyed the remaining pig of Mr. Thanh's family.
Since the African swine fever outbreak in neighboring communes, the commune has deployed chemical disinfection spraying at food trading locations and livestock households. This morning, the commune deployed disease prevention solutions according to the district's scenario: Spraying chemical disinfection, setting up 3 disease control posts on main roads; assigning hamlets to keep a close eye on the existing pig herds and visiting each household to provide instructions on disease prevention. Currently, the commune has nearly 400 pigs.
In Dai Thanh commune, the outbreak occurred at Mr. Le Cong Mai's household in hamlet 4. This morning, Dai Thanh commune authorities deployed solutions to prevent, control and contain the epidemic according to the instructions of the veterinary agency.

Con Cuong district has just had a new outbreak in Luc Da commune. Accordingly, on June 17, a herd of 4 pigs, weighing nearly 100kg, belonging to Mr. Chuong Van Suu's family in Yen Thanh village, Luc Da commune, fell ill. The district veterinary agency took samples for testing and the results showed that they were positive for African swine fever virus. The infected pigs in Luc Da commune were then destroyed.

The district's functional departments have coordinated with livestock owners to conduct general cleaning and disinfection in the epidemic area.This is the second outbreak of African swine fever discovered in the mountainous district of Con Cuong, the first outbreak was previously discovered in Bong Khe commune.

Mr. Le Duc Tinh - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Tan Ky district said: The outbreak occurred in Lat town at the district's Animal Husbandry Station, with 4 infected male pigs. The specialized agency destroyed the above pigs since June 16.

From March 13 to June 18, 2019, African swine fever occurred in 1,175 households in 281 hamlets of 114 communes, in 18 districts, cities and towns. The total number of infected pigs destroyed was 4,202, with a total weight of more than 185,440 kg.
